Some are struggling to understand how theoretical and hypothetical their arguments are, which is where those points are falling down.

 

Could you name these quality Posh players that have left for free please. I am curious!

 

Erhan Oztumer is the first to spring to mind with no research required.

I'm sure there are far more examples, but I'm not massive on Peterborough.

 

I think that's the big point here. During edin and the transfer committee's time, we've signed 8 or 9 strikers. Only Wyke has been good enough. Therefore I'm not confident we'd sign a replacement who's anywhere near good enough, regardless of finances.

 

He went to bloody Walsall......... Without any research whatsoever.....h. Didn’t see any CC teams in the Q to sign him two years ago!

 

Taylor was ok until his personal demons resurfaced, Jones has been plagued by injury but clearly has talent. Hiwula was ok as well and would have scored more if he's been given more game time.

 

George Boyd is another good example.

Left Peterborough for Bristol City, then got sold on for £3m.

 

Then you obviously didn't pay a lot of attention.

He was one of the more sought after players in League One, and his class was already noted.

He's about to leave on a free again, too, probably joining Notts Forest (who they turned down last Summer).

George Boyd is a perfect example of Peterborough NOT selling every saleable player just because they feel they 'should'.

And that is how they sell for vast sums, where we historically have struggled to get upwards of £1-2m.

 

The Oztumer rebuttal is also flawed.

"But he only went to Walsall" was the response; and if we keep hold of Wyke, perhaps he'll "only" go to another League One club.

That doesn't mean he was never saleable, does it?

George Boyd played 263 games for Peterborough before joining Hull as a free agent. He was on the transfer list all of 2013, in line with Peterborough's transfer policy of listing players with 12 months contract left. Forest had an offer of £500,000 accepted but reneged on the deal 2 hours before the january transfer deadline. Hardly not selling is it.

 

They literally rejected bid after bid after bid after bid.

Middlesbrough, Burnley, Forest, the list goes on and on, they refused to sell him for YEARS.

Yes his final season he was on the transfer list as Darren Ferguson insisted, but you are being intentionally ignorant of the facts. Why?

 

That's Posh's policy. Every player in the final year of their contract is put on the transfer list.
