I'm not sure where you are going with this. We have one real saleable asset at this moment. He is worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay. We don't have any bidders as it stands but there will be clubs looking at him. I'm presuming Carlisle fans thought Wyke was worth more than what we paid for him, they were wrong as well.

 

Put it this way, we could keep him, he could score 20 goals and fire us to promotion and then leave on a free. Or we could sell him now and finish mid table.

I know which I'd rather have.

 

We are only a stepping stone for any player with ambition.

 

And we always will be untill this crew we have in charge abandons this stupid model!

 

TBF and it's just my opinion, I don't think they (Him) won't reinvest the money, his model is based on it and past evidence suggests he isn't worried to spend. The worry for me is will the model work?

 

Or he could stay and only score 13 goals and we finish mid to low table.
Or we could sell him for a decent profit and reinvest that money into 2 decent replacements who end up scoring 30 goals between them.

 

If he is sold this summer and I think it looks increasingly likely. Then I'd like to see his replacement being lined up, negotiated and perhaps even purchased before he goes.

Don't want to see any more scrambling around at the end of the window in the same way they were when hunting for a McCardle replacement last year. Or a repeat of the Kristian Dennis fiasco this year, even if City weren't wholly to blame. That has to be one of the lessons that have been learned in my opinion, get things sorted ASAP, don't wait until the window's closing.

Last season's squad didn't score that many goals, even with Wyke in it and especially once Taylor had gone. Remove Wyke without adequately replacing him and I think there'd be a very definite problem before a ball has even been kicked.

 

They weren't wrong, he was worth more. They had to sell based on a technicality - a clause in his deal.

 

What model would stop our current players moving on to big and better things. I hate to break it to you but there is no such model. Players always want to test their skills at the highest level possible. With that rise in standard comes a rise in salary. Its not rocket science. Personally i would like to see Charlie stay, but business dictates.

 

I'd love it if he stays and scores 20.
On the other hand, if he is adamant in his desire to move on and we stop him he could go on a season long sulk.
I would hope he would be professional enough to play to his best but it's a gamble.

Just a thought sell Wyke for anything over 500k and get lyle Taylor on a free transfer if we did that I'd be happy. It depends who they would get in to replace Wyke if he goes to see if it's a good deal or not

 

It he could stay score 12 goals and we finishe mid table and he leaves for free. I know what I would do.

 

Charlie Wyke is fecking deluded if he thinks he is better than league 1.
He’s slow, clumbersome and technically poor. Any money over 250k is a steal. Good riddance.

 

As I posted to @Bronco last night there is a offer on the table for wyke led to believe a championship club but isn't Bolton. The club want him to stay and a new deal is in the pipeline but if he refuses it he will be gone this summer providing they can get a replacement in first.

 

From the sounds of that they are doing everything people have asked. Trying to get him to sign an extension. If not then getting a replacement in before letting him leave

 

When I watch Wyke play he doesn't look like a 20 goal a season man. His stats are decent but a bit misleading for me. He scored 12 goals from open play and 3 of those were in one game. Not that impressive. I'd snatch your hands off for £1M.
