I just asked you if you thought the squad was good enough for the playoffs. Pretty simple question really.

I am merely stating a fact. He quit here first time round and he quit at Motherwell. They are not opinions they are facts.

And what he did as a player is of little or no interest to me as a manager. I could sit here and spend the next 3 hour listing out ex players who were top drawer, never took a step backward, never say die mentality, who carried teams on their back and drove them to success, who were then complete failures as managers.

A players record does not necessarily give any indication on how they will fear as a manager.

Bradford City seems to be unable to separate McCall the player and McCall the manager.

Personal view here, I think he's right to plan for next season. I've seen enough to if by some miracle this lot get to the playoffs they'll get mullered by any team that can play pass and move football on a decent surface. Can't rely on a cabbage patch every week to nullify the opposition.

You make some very good observations that are sometimes clouded by your view on McCall. He comes with deficiencies but I'm pretty sure another manager had been appointed rather than McCall, and I'm pretty sure the results would have been the same, that your views on our recent form would have been different.

Yes I think we are good enough to make a play off spot but then so are around 50% of the teams in the division so it is not a mark of approval. If Bowyer (luck or not) can get this lot into a playoff position for half a season then there is no reason McCall should not.

On a separate note. Noticed you nimbly avoided actually responding to the central them of my post though...nicely done sir.

Explain what you mean by central theme and I'll respond. Never ducked a question in my life, certainly ain't gonna on somewhere as tame as here.

You keep conflating the argument. The mentality that McCall has as a player and a person is not born on the football field it is who you are. It goes with you in life, and doesn’t suddenly leave you. He may well have quit Motherwell for very good reasons, who knows, it may well be a fact, but facts don’t always explain everything.

It was a risk worth taking given we were on a downward spiral. That is my view, I get you don’t like it, but this is a forum where everyone gets to have a say.

    You may well be right.

But given we were sold on McCall as his style of play would get the supporters back on side, he knows the club, he has learned from his previous appointment, he was appointed in less than 24 hours (which suggests previous contact), he said he had been watching a lot of football AND we were 7th in the division then YES expectations are rightly higher than they would be for someone who knew nothing of the club.

I don't nessarily agree with McCalls appointmemt, there are plenty of other candidates out there who may or may not have been available. In my view the appointment was made for one reason only, because it was easy for the people running the club. We will never know how good or bad another candidate may have been its all conjecture. But to say expectations are higher of McCallbecause of the alleged evidence you've given are just opinion. I certainly don't agree with it. There is no factual evidence to say what McCall knew/didn't know would in any way help him in his return, it's a completely different animal to the one he was sacked from. Different backroom staff, different CEO, new set of players. Buildings are the same but have bearing on a managers performance.

Stuart appears to be going through some pre-season rotation of players in the middle of the season. He should just stop all the changes, pick a system and a team and stick with it. Who cares if those on the bench or in the stands get angry, they were bloody rubbish anyway.
