It was Alfie McCalmont I think who tried to con the ref with a dive. Should have been booked.

I thought the ref was pretty decent, tbh. Yes, he made a few errors (like the first half free kick given against Stubbs, who never touched your forward, who should have been booked for diving). Also the several times when Cook was grabbed around the face or neck by your CBs. Like all fans, including you, I noticed the unpunished fouls against my team far more than those commited by us. But having watched the game again on Sky, those errors balanced out pretty evenly for both sides.

It was clear to me that he recognised this was going to be a hard fought physical game, with lots of challenges. He obviously wanted to let it flow rather than penalise every minor infringement, which would have created a disjointed game of constant stops & starts. I don't think he was poor or weak. I think he deliberately let quite a lot go for both sides. I'd much rather have a ref like that than an over-officious two hat throwing cards about like confetti, constantly stopping the play or skewing the result with a soft penalty for a nothing challenge.

Not strictly city related, but if anything gives Carlisle confidence and belief, it comes in the shape of Wednesday's result tonight. This really underlines how we must score first.

next goal in our the is huge

2-0 down and smallwood still passing it backwards

That's sums this team, tactics and captain up

I'm completely baffled at that decision. You just score. The mentality has to be 'right, we are coming at you and you ain't gonna stop us'.
Instead it was ' OK we are going to hold on for penalties, do your best' . . . . and that's just what Carlisle did.

Yer but he keeps talking about key moments in a game and he fecked up with the one that I believe was our eventual downfall today. Yes it was all about today and he bottled it. Team selection unchanged. Predictably poor down the left. Might as well have told Carlisle all our other tactical plans at the same time.

Radio Leeds could see it, we could see it but it still continued for a long chunk of the game.

    On way back down.

    Well that was utter shi@e.
@Sergio Pinto III@Sergio Pinto III well we might have well finished 8th now. It’s time for fans to understand the club. Bradford City is a club that lacks bottle! Fans are too passive and accept any shi@e given. CEO shi@e, Rupp utter dog shi@e.

We have been poor all season! I said last week 1-0 going in to the second leg is no real advantage but today was unacceptable.

Smallwood shi@e, no captain for this club.

What was Hughes thinking about taking Banks off? Madness.

    Disgusting performance today!

This is about as bang on as you'll get. Andy Cook has saved Hughes's arse time and again this season, as has Harry Lewis. At times we've been outpassed in midfield even by the relegated sides and a team with those fundamental problems really shouldn't be getting promoted. No disrespect to Carlisle, I wish them well in the final but they ain't owt special. But the fact they were the better side in both legs, especially midfield, shows both our manager and recruitment team need to.up their game next season cos there's two new dogs in town.

Banks was apparently taken off because he had run himself into the ground and his tank was empty just after beating a player and setting up a goal!!

I heard that too but it was very difficult to hear the full interview
Regardless making substitutions to a team that has just scored and the player being hooked providing the assist is pub league level robbing our liveliest attacking thread and unsettling the defence in one act not clever at that stage of the game
MH for all his undoubted qualities cost us today I firmly believe his thinking isn't suited to L2 level

We were absolute garbage and got what we deserved. I had a bad vibe about this second leg, which sadly proved to be right.

It would have been interesting to see where we would have finished this season had we not lost Wright in the January window. Losing Harry Chapman at such a critical stage of the season has also been a massive blow. We will of course never know. However, that left sided imbalance was so evident today.

A disappointing end to what was at times a very promising season. Some foundations have been laid, but there are clear deficiencies. Let's hope we get our recruitment right this summer and build on the progress made and get the job done!

two turgid negative performances 'Tart', its not chess, its footy. Im questioning Hughes passion for the game after that 210 minute bore fest. Thank god we didn't take that bore fest approach to Wembley we would have been sent packing there too.

We lost this tie the moment we scored last Sunday when we went straight on to the back foot instead of taking advantage of being at home
Hughes has to be given another chance I have hated the boring negative way we have played this season so either a big change of tactics or the right personnel to make his tactics work is needed sadly I don’t think either will happen and we will be seeking a new manager by Christmas

Have you ever seen a more turgid central midfield. How the hell Cook has scored that many goals with that creativity I'll never know.

I always think of two clubs that were either equal or below us not that long ago in the past, Brentford and Luton. They bottomed out and got sorted at boardroom level before anything else.

Put it this way neither club relies on checking their junk mail to hire a manager! The club is a ship without a competent captain with a vision and the ability to execute.

If we had to hire another manager tomorrow who would realistically have any confidence?

    Abysmal shite all season really.

Bottle it when it matters. Gillingham, Crewe, now Carlisle as well as all the other leads especially at home throughout the season.

Too negative, too scared to lose as opposed to utilising our talent and letting us go and score 3 or 4 every week as we all know we are capable of doing.

We need a manager who isn’t afraid to attack.
