Ok, cool. Are we allowed to say Christmas this year, or is that still banned?

It’s looks likes men in grey suits, are suiting up! May has gone back on her promise not to devide NI from the rest of the UK. Indefinite customs union, or temporary, but then we have to negotiate with EU, and only then can we leave. Stand by for the previable to hit the fan!

General Election or something called a People’s Vote, or Referendum Mark 2.

Don’t think I have felt so depressed for a very long time.

A few months ago I went to en exhibition at the British Museum. It focused on a large Island off mainland Europe. It had seen waves of invaders and the Normans were one of the main groups who beat the indigenous inhabitants and set up a kingdom. Given its location, the Island was a major trader and became very prosperous.

Subsequently the Silk Trail was fully opened and Western European’s nations explorers found routes to the Far East and also the opening up of Africa, and the America’s. From being a ‘major player’, the kingdom slowly declined in importance, it has become a back water, where organised criminals, still leave a major shadow. Hordes of migrants land on its shores and despite it being a pleasant land, it is relatively impoverished.

Sicily was that thriving multicultural centre. However its decline is now very marked. I fear that the UK will slowly decline and become more irrelevant in the world, another island which lost sight of changes in the world and could not adapt.

Our economic importance is in decline, we are dependent on imports of lots of materials the cost of which will increase as the pound decreases in value compared to other currencies. We have a welfare and health system, which is dependent on generating wealth, which will surely go into decline. There is the issue of Northern Ireland and there are some odious characters there who will exploit the situation (the Brexiters have never ever explained how they were going to resolve that conundrum in a practical manner).

Frankly the future is very bleak.

As a remainer I would rather leave with no deal than accept a deal where; ok with have control over freedom of movement but we have no say over some things which are economic fundamentals such as tax etc. Its permanent as well. No way to get out of it. Of course Id rather stay. Do people really hate foreigners that much that they'd rather lose all control for it?

Brexiters never explained much at all and purposely so as they knew if they explained things no-one would have voted for it.. Leadsom, Mogg etc all hold offshore funds. They see GB being competitive by reducing tax. i.e. attract profits from Multinationals whilst also benefitting themselves. Trouble is once the world eventually sorts out global tax, we will be left with nothing.

I'd take no deal now. Time to take our medicine, and shut spivs like Mogg and Farage up. Not that they'd take any responsibility at all, of course. They'll just blame all the countries woes on single mums and foreign aid. It definitely won't be the fault of big business, banks and shady billionaires.

They won't be able to blame immigrants for woeful planning of housing and public infrastructure. Now it will be purely down to their bad planning. I wonder who the next scapegoats will be?

Indeed. And we all know that the real reason that the likes of Rees-Mogg, John Moulton, Paul Dacre, BoJo, Dyson, Farage etc are so concerned about any suggestion that the UK would remain subject to EU directives is because of the snappily titled EU Directive 2016/1164 which will be implemented next year and which we're all familiar with! ;)

It's better known as the Anti Tax Avoidance Directive and will start to bring an end to the many UK overseas tax havens where the rich, famous and questionable keep their fortunes beyond the reach of UK and other EU tax authorities. And without the hardest of Brexits as favoured by the likes of Rees-Mogg, Moulton, Dacre, Dyson, Farage, BoJo etc etc the UK may well have to sign up to this new directive. And for those with something to hide or at least not disclose, it could be a major problem

And they'll all be able to use their new blue passports when flying to and fro between the UK and the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, Bermuda etc to count their lolly.

Of course they are doing it in the best interests of we the British people! Rees-Mogg has said already said that. ;) He's quite content to have to wait for 50 fecking years for the economic impact of a hard Brexit to show some benefit. In the meantime with him being such a great democrat and supporter of our Parliamentary democracy, who exactly is representing his constituents in North East Somerset who voted by a large margin to remain in the EU?

People’s vote mate! Once they made their mind up that is it!

Wait for a referendum on; stopping benefit payments, bringing back hanging, etc. Once the ‘people’ decide that is it. Peoples democracy, stuff Parliament, and a further ‘let’s have a good think about it’ referendum, ‘what is done is done’, end of period! :skull:
