The Brexiters have never explained how the UK is going to deal with the Eire/Northern Ireland border.

A Trump style wall? Pay for all vehicles to have some form of tracking device. Even if official business plays by the rules, the temptation for new commercial style smuggling/tax avoidance operations, will I guess be irresistible to some.

A ‘hard border’ will give the dinosaurs of the ‘troubles’ an excuse for a ‘call to arms’.

The future seems very bleak to me.

Maybe its all very convoluted (and its been ages since A Level politics) I think the part where its not as good as the deal we have stands up though....

But Trevor the fact is that we do already control our borders, in that we monitor our sea crossings, airports, the Channel Tunnel and that we impose passport controls on arrivals from every other country (except Ireland).

Freedom of movement is a specific right for EU passport holders to move around the bloc to take up work in any country. And there are actually limits on it. People can be refused admittance on security grounds. They can also legally be required to leave after three months if they do not have a job or fulfil other conditions such as being able to support themselves financially.

Yet with the exception of homeless EU migrants, these control powers have never been exercised by the Home Office, even when Theresa May was in charge of it. And that’s because the Home Office (unlike, for instance, Belgium) failed to invest in an EU migrant worker registration system...

In reality I have seen/heard people blaming unskilled labour from EU countries being blamed for the reason wages are so low, the facts just don't back this up (I'm in the construction industry which apparently was the worst...) the fact is Major Bosses have limited wages & the lack of unions have meant workers have no way of resisting this limiting of labour whilst the rich get richer... but obviously the Daily Mail etc. this would make far less fun reading, better to blame the foreign guy... (see history for every problem being blamed on the people that look different to 'us')

(incidentally much of this was lifted from an Independent article I read - it makes the point much more eloquently than I probably could)

I voted leave , NOBODY had a vote for closer ties with the corrupt sewer that the EU has become ,Bliar and liebour did promise a referendum on any changes but renaged and ratified it anyway , desepite denials ( more scaremongering from brexiteers ) what are your thoughts on a EU army ?, does this mean the end of NATO ?, the french and Germans do not pay the required 2% towards defence so who funds that ?. Why does a original trading group need a standing army , why does Macron feel threatend by the USA . The EU is on its last legs , they are interfering in the internal policies of member states , italy - greece etc . It is actually a failed social experiment 1 size does not fit all .

I’d say so, a lot of good callers today. I do enjoy his shows sometimes, I like the fact he lets folk on longer than other presenters, rather than churning them out without listening and/or challenging them..But, his arrogance really gets on my nerves sometimes. Just look at his recent book title, for instance.

Right I’ve flipped due to kids waking at 3.30 and reading a comment online saying reason we got a rubbish deal is because we had remoaners in charge of negotiation. The biggest lie straight from the start was you can have freedom of movement and a great deal. Facts always were if you want to control movement then either it’s a no deal or shit deal. That was made obvious from the start. The Remoaners have moaned and moaned pointing this out but being accused of being snowflakes or stupid experts and when it finally happens it’s the remoaners fault for not negotiating. When are Brexiters going to take some responsibility for their own actions. It’s not always someone else’s fault!!

"Tom Super of the National Chicken Council, the trade association for American chicken farmers, described the concerns over chlorine washing raised by the new study as “silly”, and stressed that America is the second-largest exporter of chicken in the world. “We export product safely to more than 100 countries around the globe,” he said. “We’ve been feeding the same chicken to our families for decades. This has never been an issue of science, rather one of politics and protectionism.”

Slightly misleading, The ability to travel and visit for holidays and business ( up to 3 months ) will be the new rules, You are suggesting that EU citizens will have the right to work and settle in the UK after brexit which they will certainly be not as we gain the right to control entry to the UK from the EU,

I got to the stage ages ago where i couldn't care less whether we stay or leave the EU but it amuses me somewhat that all this complete mess by the Tories is somehow the fault of leave voters like myself. I used the right to vote to see change, unfortunately thats where my influence as a member of society ends. Its in no way the fault of people like myself that we have the most incompetent house of commons anyone can ever remember, by some distance.
I actually fear for the long term future of this country, not because of leaving the EU, but because the members of parliament and bureaucrats in this country have been shown up to not having the intelligence to run a bath never mind this country of ours.
But hey, lets blame the voters. Well at least thats one things they are good at.

Putting a Remain team in charge of negotiating Brexit was never going to end well

I've heard 3 politicians in the past 12 hours talking about the PMs deal - Rees-Mogg, Gove and David Davis. All with high profile roles in the Leave campaign. They all made a very similar comment as to why they couldn't support the PM's deal .... It doesn't deliver what the British people told us they wanted from Brexit.

It is already beginning to sound like several politicians are beginning to distance themselves from their own role in all of this fiasco and turning the responsibility for the mess back onto the electorate. The cynic might say it's a co-ordinated response to blame anybody but the politicians involved. "It's nothing to do with us guv. We're just doing what the great unwashed told us to do!"

    Absolute bollocks!

Actually during transition they will have that right... but that aside we always had the ability to restrict just never set up to use it; another little Brexit lie that got swallowed.

Bloke selling chickens and from the chicken council, says his chickens are the best chickens, there’s nothing wrong with his chickens, everyone should buy his chickens.

Tomorrow we have Mr Rothmans on, telling us why smoking 20 a day ain’t really that bad for ya.

This is so fecking funny. My knowledge of American chicken farming extends to about as much as yours, Trev, I.E - nothing.

If all you’ve got is some Googled lines from the fella trying to sell ‘em. Then I’m a lot more suspicious than before.

Fascinating reading. Didn't realise what an intelligent and inciteful bunch we have on this forum. Personally I have tended to find in life that wherever the rules are made we tend to get shat on from a great height.

It’s all pretty comical. Shock horror that the leave campaign used misleading claims and sometimes outright lies to sell the idea of leaving the EU as a great thing. Something which has become evident over the last 18 months of negotiations with the EU to leave.

The fact that not one of the senior leave campaigners wanted the job of PM was very telling and now the fact that they have all resigned or are distancing themselves from the deal (Boris jumped even earlier!) is again very telling.

Leave voters were deluded if they thought they would get the deal they were promised during the campaign and now the markets are down, GBP is down and there looks to be no agreebale deal in sight.

There will be another vote either by referendum or general election. This agreement won’t go through Parliament there is no majority. Neither will no deal. And there is no room for further discussion. So the people will decide again and public opinion now seems to have moved to remain
