Funny how the deal was voted through and then pulled by Boris. You wouldnt have had to wait 3 months. Unless the deal after scrutiny was not much of a deal. Either way I find it strange you are happy to wait when it was your boy crush boris that took your blessed brexit away from you. Like I said before it does ask questions about peoples integrity.

Keep the insults going if it makes you feel better.

I shouldn't try and reply to someone like yourself with letters after his name, you being a history & politics graduate, the single market and economics was part of my thesis.

It seems like Labour cannot learn from the past, Lets hope the public do, The policy of raising tax on the rich is a stupid one that will have the reverse effect, The result of Thatcher reducing tax on the rich actually INCREASED the tax take to the country as the rich brought capital and wealth back to the country increasing the tax take allowing more to be spent on services, The result of raising taxes and punishing the rich will be capital flight as before and the treasury will take less not more

They'll just chase the poor buggers in the middle like they always do. Can't chase the poor for money/taxes cos they've got fk all in the first place. And the rich ain't gonna let you take off them to give to the poor, thats not how the rich get rich. So if the taxes do get raised, which they will because you pay more tax every year you exist, then be prepared to pay for it if you actually one of those who works for a living. Theres a reason the 'working man/woman' has to work a little bit longer each year before they've paid their tax off for the year. Just a pity you never see anything for it.

I think the reason Boris may have pulled the deal is because he's hoping the Tories get a big enough majority they could gk back ti Brussels and say the deal is not acceprable especially the Northern Ireland concession and if nothing better is forthcoming we leave without a deal, as there is nothing the other parties could do about it.
The opposition have said they don't trust Boris they may have reason after 31st January.

Boris had no choice but to pull the deal, The next stage of the bill was where it could be amended by other parties, It became clear they would amend it to death and water it down with Labour amending to include full customs membership, The deal was dead at that stage and an election the only path

Yes the Labour and Lib/Dem MPs on Question Time were bitching about why he pulled the deal after getting it voted through.
I honestly believe he will go back and try and get the Irish stituation taken out helped along by the ERG.

There’s a degree of irony referring to a risk of capital flight when you’re opposing that with a party that’s pushing Brexit.

I’m not saying you’re wrong about capital flight (although I have reservations - tax can’t just go one way for the rest of time), and I’m not saying that Brexit will definitely lead to capital flight. But the risk is at minimum just as pronounced.

I just can’t see how he can get the Irish situation sorted out without pursuing a customs union. There’s no appetite for a hard border on the island of Ireland from either side.

Johnson has repeatedly stated and implied an opposition to a customs union, but this could be the ‘careful what you wish for’ moment for a lot of those preferring the hardest Brexit possible.

With a Parliamentary majority there won't be a lot the other parties can do, and the DUP would also support it.

Problem is that there are three directions this can go, to go through without any repercussions to Northern Ireland of that nature.

    1. No deal Brexit - no parliamentary majority for it under the previous parliament (although we’ll see - but I really don’t think this is Johnson’s preferred approach when push comes to shove)

    2. May’s deal - already rejected by Boris Johnson himself. I think that was hasty, this seemed like the most likely outcome to satisfy a Brexit voting coalition

    3. Customs union - untested, but this will undoubtedly incur cries of ‘not a proper Brexit’

Farage laying it on thick that he’s not in favour of this deal, and that the Brexit Party will be standing candidates in every seat.

Interesting developments. With Trump dismissing the deal last night on LBC and the chances of any trade agreement, this could potentially be pretty damaging to Johnson.

That said, not entirely convinced it fully benefits Labour either. Brexit Party support comes from Labour and Conservatives, without a Brexit Party, it’s far from automatic that vote would go straight to the Tories.

I would think Tory candidates for the up and coming General Election would be selected with regards their pro/anti brexit, let's hope which ever way the election goes we have a party with a majority, or are prepared to go into coalition, I prefer a Tory government because of reasons I've given in the past but if it's not then so be it, brexit needs sorting sooner rather than later.

I was not referring to brexit but understand the point you are making, I was referring only to the amount of tax the wealthy have to pay, If it is increased to much the wealthy will hide it or move it, When Thatcher lowered the rate it actually increased the amount they paid in to government coffers substantially, I remember with a friend on the board of a major company where board meetings were virtually dominated with tax advisers etc and tax schemes to reduce liability, When the tax rate came down it was just paid and could get on with creating wealth instead bogged down with tax
