It's all pretty futile now ..if ifs and ands were pots'and pans ?. Rhodes set no demands on Bowyer and fell over himself to award him a two year deal without seeing how it worked out. It's been a disaster for Bowyer who has now lost six on the spin ! Now we can carp on about how terrible the players are ? But Hopkin prised something from them in December somehow. ? Bowyer has posted 3 points from 21 in any other circumstance that gets you the sack !. Only reason he's not still in the job is that Rhodes gave him 11 free hits. Rhodes was here in January he knew what we needed player wise to help us stay in this League. But we just got copies of players we already had.

I'm absolutely convinced that had Rhodes appointed Steve Evans we would have some how got a better return on the last 7 games than Bowyer. Not least because Rhodes would have not offered Evans a two year deal after less than half of the audition. Evans would have had to prove himself no doubt and he wouldn't have got the job by being just "a decent guy who Julian can work with". Hence Evans has to produce more in his limited time". We needed nasty not nice for all our sakes. Rhodes relegated us before in 2007 and here he is to lead us back into another "dark age".As I say he's the true "History Maker" at VP because he can make history repeat itself !

Just seen Shay McCarten beaming all over his face celebrating promotion to League 1 with Lincoln. What a great goal for him today he'll be thinking in the back of his head yeah Bradford City ..I wasnt good enough to play for them ...who's playing League 1 football then next season ...ermmmm Shay McCarten ..darn right he is and good luck to him he's too good for us now !

Thanks Rupp and Rhodes for this totally uneccessary relegation.

Agree we may not have been able to keep the likes of Mezza and Marshall but he never gave McCall a chance and now most realise why he didn't now.

Playing devils advocate here how would you have kept the following players?

Merdeith - Millwall offered him a contract
Marshall - Wanted to move to London to be near family
Cullen - recalled by Wets Ham who wanted him in the Championship

Darby was let go as McMahon was preffered at right back, McArdle looked like a big miss, was never replaced but he wanted a 3 year deal (maybe should have given) and Clarke was let go - was he a miss?????

Should of offered Mezza a deal months before, we all could see what was happening. McArdle would of stayed if we offered him a contract he was deserved. Instead we got rid of Wyke, Jones, Kilgallon, Doyle, Law, Dieng etc and replaced them with A.O'Connor, J.Wright, G.Miller, O'Donnell, Akpan. A complete shambles.

Yeah added that above. I meant he wouldn’t be able to sign players to turn it around.

Whilst I hope you’re right, until he sorts out that midfield I’m still not 100% convinced. You would expect him to look to bring in 1-2 better midfielders. But then again, who expected him to offer deals to Devine, Colville and Anderson.

I just hope he doesn’t believe they are good enough and that we don’t need to strengthen here. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by most of the signings and there are still some that have room for improvement. But I just can’t see past that piss poor midfield

Have we considered that Bowyer believes the midfield is the least important part of a League Two side?

    HOOF.

What I will say about our midfield is, it may not be mouth-watering, but there are plenty of options. If Bowyer can find the right balance, players like Anderson and McCartan might be able to influence games - I'd still much rather we strengthened, though.

Last thing Bowyer wants to do is to upset a few of these top earner, banish them from the squad like Hopkin did with some of them and then find out they can't move on and be stuck with unhappy players and a high wage. This way all players have something to fight for with a manager who they will like and fight for then if an offer does come in for them then we can get rid if needed.

He was very highly rated at arsenal as a kid so hopefully bowyer can get that out of him I think he’s gonna be a very good player for us this season

No understand what you're saying mate and I do agree. He was very highly rated, a result of 2 career threatening injuries he isn't highly rated anymore and needs to prove he's a player again. The onus is on him at league 2 level to prove he can be a stand out!

It sounds like McCartan is happy to be here againnow, which is good to hear.

It is going to be interesting to see where he fits in. Donaldson and Vaughan will start every week, which rules out us playing two wide men around a lone forward and a number 10 in behind, with two defensive anchors further back.

He could start at the tip of a diamond but then that would lessen the chance of Scannell or indeed any wingers starting.

This is what pre-season is for I guess. Personally I hope we set up with good old 4-4-2 for as long is Scannell is fit. If Ismael is currently front of the queue for LW then Anderson and Akpan, of those currently available, will add defensive balance. Do think we could do with an upgrade in there though.

Yeah you cant judge a player based on his CV if it starts high and goes backwards is your point. This is sometimes true (Ben Muirhead) and sometimes not (Jamie Vardy). It's as logically flawed to say these players cant make it as it is to say they will. Individual success depends on so many variables does it not?

Not seen it but I’ve been confident in him since day one. Even with the bad results last year. He will be a success here. Just have that feeling

And before anyone asks, no I’m bringing any data or analysis to it. It’s my opinion.
