Ryan Sparks said no contract talks until end of season, and would you think had they tied Pointon down to new contract Bradford City would have used it to sell season tickets?

 

The GA interview confirmed the timelines. Staff meeting tomorrow. Players meetings Tues/Wed. Recruitment starts now as we aren't in play offs and he wants a stronger pre season to get players fitter than this season. Fitness programmes for all players. Fingers crossed for news on contracts soon.

 

That might not be enough for him. He has a family and no doubt a mortgage.

 

Simple answer is you don't. Walker should play in the midfield role he has taken up recently rather than a front three as he has been really effective there instead of Gilly, Pointon stays where he is and Pattison is the go to option to replace Pointon if he's unfit.

The front three of Pointon, Cook & Kav has started to click, don't mess with it by trying to shoehorn Pattison in.

I dont think we need to tinker too much now GA seems to have found his best formation. A new right sided centre half, keep Stubbs as Platt's understudy, Kelly has improved massively, and though I wouldn't have said this a few weeks ago, Smallwood has improved massively with Walker alongside him. Just never let his take a corner.

 

I get the impression GA is as straight as the day is long. But, there are thing he may have to say to keep the management happy. Either way, I'm comfy with the situation of contract renewals, which it makes sense to sort out in May, and having GA as the manager.

Barring two bad runs, tied round postponements and other outside influences, he would have got u in the playoff. If he had arrived a month early I believe that would be the case. I also reckon if we had played Barrow and Salford when they were supposed to be be played, we would have made it.

 

That’s reasonable for both parties . I hope City dont initially try and pull a “ fast one” knowing he’s “ one of our own” . I think Sharp isn’t that stupid. I’m pleased we have him on board because he WILL be the adult in the room at this critical juncture (As he was at Mansfield)

it makes me so frustrated that a player with his ability has been so badly underused. We’ve handed out contracts to far worse youth players, for longer.

the lad has so much talent and deserves to play a far bigger role next season.

valid and perhaps I’m being a bit harsh, I would prefer across the board though contracts which lean more on incentives

 

I suppose it's just because I'd read your post in another thread about people who like to 'stick the knife in', then here's a comment about 'you can't trust what the club are saying on the surface' haha

I don't disagree in general, but I'd expect the club were being truthful about contract negotiations, otherwise there's no imperative to make any kind of statement - better nothing than a lie!

 

Yes along with other players had talks with Alexander that went well. Talks broke down soon after with Sparks , Bobby asked for pool table in Concourse of main stand should he win Northernmonkey’s Pool cue.

 

Talks with the players took place yesterday and today. Just because it's not been announced it doesn't mean we've not offered him a new contract. At very least we'll trigger the 1 year extension on his contract. Nothing to worry about.

 

He's got real promise, but I think it's fair to say that he's only really shown it this season and it could have gone either way, so hedging our bets isn't too concerning.

 

True. I thought he had already signed and we were waiting to announce it - but maybe it was pure forum speculation!
