Talk Sport what a load of crap : https://www.247talksport.co.uk/2023/10/14/kevin-mcdonald-now-list-4-key-bradford-city-players-who-are-leaving-on-a-free-next-summer-including-young-creative-star/?fbclid=IwAR28tuG13dTEoDr2Qfm0HGdlQTlMPB7ya3FASoNgnPbovqcaDHymeUjvgXQ

    Bobby Pointon

Kicking off the list is forward Bobby Pointon, who progressed through the youth ranks at Bradford.

After three loan spells away from the Bantams, the 19-year-old has struggled to assert himself as a first-team mainstay and could be set to look for a permanent move away from West Yorkshire.

Looks like a blog page a sixth former wouldn’t write. I would give anything on there any credibility (no offence sixth formers)!

Whether we believe the article or not, if his contract does run out next summer, we need to act now and offer to extend

    He's under 24, so we're guaranteed a fee set by a tribunal.
We've been stung before, giving long term contracts on the back of a few decent performances.
Patrick, Staunton & Finn-Dawson spring to mind.

Having said that, if he carries on performing well we'll have no option but to tie him down.

It's not even Talk Sport (who apart from one exception) are rubbish anyway.

How do they get away with such libelous shite?! I absolutely detest the gutter press

I know Bobby, he is City through & through and this is a dream come true for him. He gives us an extra dimension, sometimes the fancy flicks don't come off but it is all part of his apprenticeship as in any walk of life. There is no way he is looking to move on

The only way he goes, is if he continues the way he started and finishes his debut season as successful as he started it, and a big club comes in for him with a silly offer the club won't turn down. Until then, he is at home

In the few games he’s played, he's performed at the level of which you hope you’re getting from a Premiership loan player. You would expect the contract conversation is happening somewhere within the club but as @HUDDERSSBANTAM@HUDDERSSBANTAM says, it’s still early days. Hopefully for us he keeps going as he does and we reap the benefits.

I’m not sure if we were sting that bad, for instance we managed to move all 3 on and I doubt they cost the earth. It’s not like a Jack Rodwell at Sunderland bleeding the club dry. They’re young lads and clubs lower down will often take a punt on young players from higher up, no matter the level.

for me I can’t criticise the club here and hope we continue with the same philosophy, because it only takes one to come good and you’re well protected then. If Patrick for instance had scored 20 goals that season for instance we’d be quids in.

I really do hope we give him a contract soon, not only has he impressed but he has a great back story and I wish football had more of this type than the lads behaving badly that you often get with footballer’s.

He will make mistakes but he gives more good than bad. He is worth the risk of a long run. One thing I can see its not lack of effort or ability but if he his involved lots he will mess up now and again. Deffo worth persevering with...he his not out of is depth

Have enjoyed watching him in the Swindon and Grimsby games. He didn’t have as much impact vs Wimbledon but to be fair they’re tough to break down.

a few months ago I got chatting to a Brighouse fan in the chippy queue and he saw my City shirt and was going on about Bobby. To be fair to the bloke, he was right, for all I politely just nodded at the time!

I think Bobby had been involved in a few pre-season games for us at that point, but he had evidently caught the eye out on loan, too.

with Wrexham blowing hot and cold at the back, hopefully he’s the man to carve them open.

Bobby's a promising player, and reminds me of Joe Colbeck.

He's young, he's a little bit inconsistent as you'd expect, and we shouldn't be relying on him - but on his day, he can lift VP and is a real bright spot so far this season.

I take the point about their promise.

I do think Bobby has the potential to achieve a great deal more in the game than JC did, though. With all due respect to JC, he was just pace. He was very quick, but had no trickery or guile. He got found out after a while as he was just an athlete, but he struggled with the football.

Bobby is a much cleverer player to my eye. He has guile, has an eye for a pass, and is a natural on the ball.

I think he’s the sort of player who will draw glances from L1 and maybe even higher (who’d have thought it with Mcburnie) if he can get a run in this side and continue to progress.

really exciting lad who was stifled under the Welsh dinosaur.

What are the odds that we see a Twitter/X transfer page put out a message along the lines of "Peterborough are interested in Bradford winger Bobby Pointon" ?

Although he'd probably have to go by Robert if he went to the Posh.

I think the players have to show him respect. He had a great career as a player and success as a manager.
