For me and I know I'm in a very small minority, GA has handled Pointon perfectly.

During the Hughes/McDonald and start of the GA regime, we got the law of diminishing returns from Pointon as there was still more that he could give. A spell outside the team at this time, November, wasn't seen as terrible.

Plenty of managers have faced criticism about not playing youngsters quickly enough - Pep with Foden is a classic example. However, I believe they have to be held back, to a degree, for their benefit and we are now saying how good Booby is (and his play now is miles better than when he first came into the team).

He's playing far better now that he was at the start of the season, to not praise his coach (who has also improved Oyegoke, Kelly and and most impressively Halliday) for this improvement is churlish. An example is the Harrogate (home) match where he looked like a little boy lost - yet in recent games against similar teams in Barrow and Walsall he looked like an experienced campaigner, in comparison.

Yes, we can rightly wonder if Pointon put into the team during January would have worked - but I've a feeling that GA's careful management, will be prove to be more or a benefit.

Agree unless there are strikers on their way out a club with the likes of Cook, Young. Kavanagh, Smith, adding the likes of Walker, Pattison, Pointon and maybe Wright to help out were starting to look a formidable side going forward.

Could do with the centre backs also contributing! How many have they scored this season?

How do you fit Walker, Pattison and Pointon in to the side?

GA has said he wants players that can play 50 games and Walker & Pattison don’t fit that bill. Pointin might stay but one of Walker or. Pattison is leaving.

I'll give you one guess you won't need two.

Mr negative who loves his hypothetical situations this was his reply :

What if it’s a one year deal?

Leaves next season on free and just little compo.

If he has signed a deal already more fool him.

I'd suggest a one year deal is not beneficial to either party he's still 19, and as I posted above if he does become a regular in the starting 11 and produces then bigger clubs will be looking with a 3 year deal we have a bit of leverage, but as we've seen in the past if they are good enough to play at a higher level (Dean Richards 18 years old , Stuart McCall 18 years old, Graham Tomlinson 20 years old, Des Hamilton 19 years old, Peter Jackson 19 years old, Nahki Wells 21 years old) we're quid's in.

Just play either Walker or Pattison which will protect them from injuries (hopefully).

You need to read it properly rather than jump in feet first, my comment was this "adding the likes of Walker, Pattison, Pointon and maybe Wright, where I have I said we would play all four together ?.

You may be correct with your claim about Walker or Pattison but I very much doubt it will be Pattison as he's still sitting on 2 years of a 3 year deal still, what we have seen of Walker when fit will IMO be an asset if he resigns, just a matter of keeping him fit, unfortunately the lad gives his all both as a creator and putting in a tasty tackle.

I'll back my source of information if you fancy a BBU £10 bet, Bobby Pointon will be a registered Bradford City for the 2024/25 season ?.

I'd have offered @Fordy117@Fordy117 the bet unfortunately he's been known to welch on bets in the past.

I would offer Jamie Walker a reduced contract wages wise, when fit he certainly has plenty to offer at this level, and looking at Pattison's injury record I believe this seasons been the longest he's been out, getting regular game time and staying injury free I recon he could get double figures, and so could Walker.

Just reading in to GA comments after the game yesterday. Walker is very much injury prone. Good player but it’s clear GA doesn’t want to see players in the treatment room often. I tend to agree with him. This club can’t afford to carry players. I do like Walker though but wouldn’t be shocked to see him leave.

I’m not saying he won’t but doubt he has already and if more than 1 or 2 seasons deal then more fool him.

The length of the contract is really irrelevant on his part if he continues to improve and becomes a regular starter other clubs would naturally come looking, City would be stupid to only extend his contract for 12 months offering little if any security for the club, as you say he just plays the season out and becomes a free agent, I honestly cant see that happening, it has to be a three year deal IMO, well soon find out.

Incentive contract for Walker would be right, bonus for goals, assists and appearances

I dont doubt he will sign a deal keeping him next season and beyond, just don’t believe it has been officially offered or signed yet.

But we’re arguing something neither of us can prove (or will do so publicly on this forum) so let’s keep it as debate and no need to bring bets in ;)

Yes the lad has problems with regards injuries but as I've posted previously no surprise the way he puts himself about and makes tackles, most would agree the clubs would be correct to go that way with a contract offer, a contract that gives the give the club a bit of insurance with regards his past injuries, but would Jamie think the same, who knows.
