Bobby Pointon (He's one of our own)

We as a club shouldn’t even be thinking about cashing in any player until we have sorted out this mess. Rupp has promised more money so the question of selling good players shouldn’t come into it!

 

i think he will be around next season and hopefully a few more.
We have the 1 year option and will offer a new contract.
Only way he leaves now is if someone offers silly money we can not refuse.
The lad has talent and is determined, but needs to stick around and improve with us.
Moving up is not always the best option for these young guys.
Tyriek Wright a good example, or George Green , similar to Pointon, quite sad and too much too young.

George Green was about 15 years old when Everton signed him.

 

Yes he was younger than Bobby, but i think a better footballer, He was not looked after and given too much at an early age which has ruined his life.

 

I think that video the club put out last week hinted at that, but they couldn't say it in so many words after being adamant nothing is sorted until the end of the season.

 

Why is it good business for Pointon?!

Highly doubt he has signed a new contract already considering all talks of contracts etc will be happening next week and talks about contracts etc with any player won’t happen until then.

I want him to stay but can’t fault him if he leaves.!

 

I think it will be a situation similar to Harry Lewis last summer that our price for him is higher than what the market value really is and what other clubs are prepared to pay. The only way I see him leaving is how McBurnie left to a Premier League club to go into their U23 squad to develop with the hope he gets to at least top end Championship level so they can keep him as a back up or sell him to the Championship and make a profit on him.
If someone comes in with a stupid price then we've got to consider it, every player has their value and no player is keep at all costs.

 

He’s done what he set out to do which is play for Bradford City. Now, it will be about getting decent money and pay at a decent level.

Thus option for a year is bollocks. If a club wants him that is higher level or shows more ambition that us(not hard) then he will be leaving.

Don’t see how staying with us for a year is of benefit for him and all. If I was him I am leaving for sure if a club comes in that can take me to a better place. In fact I am starting to thing if this was the case he would be a fool to stay.

 

Bobby is staying at his beloved City. He will get a decent wage rise and will, IMHO, be offered a three year contract with a decent sell on clause if sold before it expires.

He can score from anywhere and is going to provide at least 10 goals a season and probably double that in assists. Very valuable to the team is our Bobby.

Oppositions will be very wary of him and add Kava and Cook to that equation , now we have a front line that provides a genuine goal threat.

I’m slightly surprised the didn’t use Bobby as part of the season ticket push , but that may be coming anyway.?

I can see however, it would be unfair on other players to release the news early ?

 

What if it’s a one year deal?

Leaves next season on free and just little compo.

If he has signed a deal already more fool him.

 

Genuinely don’t believe he or any of the squad have been offered or signed anything. No way I believe the ‘cautious’ Sparks would risk openly stating contracts are off the table until the end of the season, and then secretly dealing. No way things like that remain a secret and don’t think even any of our leaders are that daft.

The club have to offer him a new deal. Whether he signs it or believes he has a better offer elsewhere remains to be seen. Given GA didn’t exactly place trust in him for quite a period of time, why should Pointon trust next season will be different?

 

Reckon it's gonna cost us way more to sign up Bobby to a 3 year deal than it would've done only a couple of months ago.

 

Let's be honest no one on here knows what's going on with players contracts and the ins and outs that go on with contract negotiations. Well, unless they are an agent themselves involved with the dealings. I've no doubt the likes of Pointon and Halliday have been made offers, it would be dumb not to. I also expect their agents have put the names out to other prospective clients to be able to go to the table with some bargaining power. Not all players will make the right choices, usually an offer from a higher division will see a player leave for the better pay and standard of football but sometimes it is in a players interest to stay at their current club due to other circumstances. Easy to say the likes of Tyriek Wright made the wrong move when he clearly did not. It gave him the opportunity to try out at a higher level, a chance he may never have got again.

Yes and rightly so, he’s deserved it imho.

 

Discussions and hints with agents, family etc, maybe. However I really don’t believe any firm offers will be made till next week. If offers had already been made, the unrest it would have caused in the latter games when we openly said we wouldn’t discuss any deals, would be too risky.
