Austin Samuels Joins on Loan

Doubt if he will be anymore than on the bench tomorrow. Stuart said after his signing that he needed “bedding in to the team”

 

I may be wrong but were either Reece Burke or Josh Cullen bedded in they were both kids 19/20, but you could well be correct introduce him from the bench.

I've seen him on the pitch. Does that count as seeing him play? Incidentally, about 20 years ago we signed a young fast striker who could score aplenty in the reserves. He turned out to be not very good but his arrival gave a real kick up the bum to our most talented but laziest front man. The result was that he then played out of his skin and we made it to the prem. Is it too much to wonder whether or not Guthrie can react like this?

 

You are probably right Park, but for me you can either play or you can't.
No need to 'bed in' - any decent player will soon cotton on, make runs, pass, shoot etc.
Nah, not for me, get the lad straight in so we don't have to waste time watching Guthrie 'perform'.

 

Agree, he must be match fit as he played 90 minutes against us the other night and has a full pre season training under his belt, not like we have signed an out of contract player.

Start him and let his pace unsettle the Harrogate defenders

Even if this boy hadn't played since pre-covid, he'd still be able to put more effort in than Guthrie.
I agree with the above - bench him, then bring him on around the 60 min mark to run at defenders for the last half hour.

 

Not sure he was training today didn’t see him on the video

 

He must be training, that video was probably filmed earlier this week.

 

Well that plan failed. He looks very raw and we didn't see any pace from him.

 

Didn't really have much of the ball, but of course should have took his chance.
Also the late offside flag incident. I also thought he looked a bit slow, but maybe he was in half minds about being offside. Also his eyes are too wide apart.

Anyway, I suppose we need to give him more time than twenty minutes before we judge him. Must be better than Guffrie.
