Austin Samuels Joins on Loan

If we get a good season out of him then thats all we can ask. A natural progression for an up and coming striker is somewhere like peterborugh. They sure know how to nurture striker talent.

 

If they rated him they would have him tied up already, there's no way they'd allow a potential asset to walk away for free. You could be right in that when January comes if he's had a good few months they could offer him something so to hold on to a saleable asset.

 

Was Samuels a name put to McCall before Tuesday? Probably. Was he a player that we seriously considered before Tuesday? Probably not.

Either way, he's clearly got the core attributes we're desperate for - pace, mobility and athleticism. And judging by Tuesday, he's an instant improvement on Guthrie and Donaldson.

But we've been here before with the likes of Patrick and Miller who are clearly athletes but not good enough footballers. Add to that the amount of goalscorers prolific in u23 football who can't cut it in the professional game. It could go either way.

Fact is, he got 0 goals in 6 appearances in the national league north for Kidderminster last season and considering he's been brought in as a replacement for Vaughan I'm not sure why people are being criticised for being apprehensive about this signing.

 

Out of contract next summer maybe if he does alright we may go in for him permanently.

He isn't a proven goalscorer or a proven anything yet. My point was that we were always going to get someone who is unproven who may/may not turn out good

Hope he does better than that and it is a gamble but Novak is now the guy to score the majority of our goals imo.
Vaughan was not replaced but the club will be happy to save on his wages no doubt.
Shame rupp's pledge to back Stuart did not amount to much.

Stuart is a great man manager so let's see what he can do with this young lad.

 

A young 19 year old with no league and minimal non league experience and some are getting far too ahead of themselves.

Crikey, a player with a bit of pace and some seem very easily pleased. Any reason this absolute unknown will be ahead of Guthrie in the pecking order, why the assumption he will automatically go into the first XI

Crazy isn't it? Nobody has seen him play, barring Tuesay night when no one had heard of him, and yet he's been talked of ahead of Guthrie who has seasons of league experience. I know he's not pulling up any trees but i'd still expect him to start ahead of a complete unknown.

 

Maybe so, in our eyes but Macca is the gaffer and he may see it differently. What's to say this lad is physically and mentally ready yet for league football?

Hope this kid has a blinder but perspective is needed here. Seen so many of these type of players from premier league development squads that fail to materlise.

 

Absolutely. And I'm trying to reason in my head how a kid with bags of pace (supposed) works with Novak whom has little pace. As an unknown front two, how will they compliment one another?
