Austin Samuels Joins on Loan

We badly needed pace and something different up front. Let’s hope this lad is the answer.

 

Let's hope he's more Nahki Wells than Devante Cole.
But, on the face of it, he sounds like a decent signing. He clearly has pace and if he makes decent runs then Billy Clarke will find him. Should certainly give our creative players more options.

What a miserable comment and no surprise RC likes it! He comes from a club where Nuno has got them playing fantastic (and mainly winning) football so lets get behind the lad.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of our current strikers moves on in January and opens another place for Stuart to continue the teams evolvement - and I really hope we get one good wide man in come Jan as dont see Ism or DMH as the answer for various reasons. Stuart has already said he is starting to evaluate those whose contract is up at the end of this season which makes total sense - but just hope Covid doesnt kibosh everything again and draw a halt to things

He should get his fair chance of minutes and starts so if he doesn't make it it won't be down to a lack of opportunity.

Positive signing. We urgently needed pace up top and someone to run the channels to stop Novak having to try and find the ball.

If Novak is told to stay in the middle and let the kid drift out wide he’ll score plenty of goals. I’d do with Novak what Bobby Robson did with Shearer....tell him he can’t go any wider than the width of the penalty area or you’ll get fined. You can’t score from the corner flag

 

You talk as if proven named strikers always gets us a result. Doyle, Vaughan, Donaldson, McLean need I go on?

 

Look we are clearly watching the money belt. It's becoming clear. In terms of a signing he has pace which is what we need but can he cut it at this level...We will soon see.

From where I'm sitting it sounds like you are willing him to fail so you can gloat and say I told you so if it doesn't.

Look back at the names mccall has previously said we were interested and compare to this one. Do you honestly think its been thoroughly researched or do you think this is whats left, available in budget and able to be rushed through.

Another question if we hadnt have played wolves on tuesday do you think this signing would have come about?

Ive said quite clearly i hope he proves me wrong but im just underwhelmed at this point.

Chuffed with that signing, don't think you need much quality this year in this league to get out of it. Great looking squad!

 

I wouldn't say its great, half the squad has very little if no first team experience. I'd say we're no better or worse than most of the division. Agree with the comment regarding quality, i've seen very little of it so far in league 2 this season. The salry cap has evened things up a lot.

 

To be fair to the lad he came here on Tuesday, scored a goal, and would have had another if Hornby didn’t make a terrific save 1v1 down to his right. I’ve just watched the highlights of the wolves game, and his positioning looked good, but just lacked a bit of service. Definitely has pace which is what we’re missing, and has a good record in the games he’s played, albeit in the under 23’s. You can only score against the teams you’re up against and seems to have done that so far. Good luck to the lad.

 

I read post after post on here with people underwhelmed. I'm not sure that my fellow Bradfordians understand the current situation. Football finances are shot, the economy in ruins and a fair chance football might grind to a halt once more. Its important the club survives and therefore financial prudence is key. Austin Samuel might underwhelm on paper but over 40 years supporting City we have rarely seen success with big signings. Austin might be the foil we need for Novak and Guthrie and he may be Nahki like. Lets see before we criticise.
