Let's hope he's more Nahki Wells than Devante Cole.
But, on the face of it, he sounds like a decent signing. He clearly has pace and if he makes decent runs then Billy Clarke will find him. Should certainly give our creative players more options.

 

I hope it works out for the lad himself. You have written the lad off before he has kicked a ball in anger.

 

I just said it was a miserable comment - a bit touchy this morning! I didnt open up the forum and I didnt call you out but hey, sorry if I have offended you.

Stuart has said we have missed out on some of the targets he had and we are all disappointed we can not seem to attract certain players - but that is where we are right now. I would guess Samuels was on the list (certainly not at the top of it) and last week gave SMc chance to run his eye over him first hand and he was suitably impressed. I said to another poster yesterday if he gets this totally wrong after waiting so long then he deserves to get some flak - but not before we have seen the lad play

Playing devils advocate here, how can you know he's exactly what we need if you don't know anything about him?

Positive signing. We urgently needed pace up top and someone to run the channels to stop Novak having to try and find the ball.

If Novak is told to stay in the middle and let the kid drift out wide he’ll score plenty of goals. I’d do with Novak what Bobby Robson did with Shearer....tell him he can’t go any wider than the width of the penalty area or you’ll get fined. You can’t score from the corner flag

 

You talk as if proven named strikers always gets us a result. Doyle, Vaughan, Donaldson, McLean need I go on?

Funnily enough, listened to the Wolves match the other night and it was apparent that he was the one Wolves youngster causing is problems, and I thought to myself at the time, this is probably the type of loanee we should be looking at.

Now I dont know if he has been on the radar a while, or whether he impressed McCall enough on the night to enquire there and then for the first time. Whatever the scenario, I am pleased to see him join, and wish him all the best. I wonder if Elliot Watt put a good word in about us to him?

Without knowing anything about him, he's exactly the sort of signing we needed.

Young proven goalscorers with pace do not exist in this league so was always going to be a relative unknown. If it goes well we could potentially get him on a free permanent transfer in the summer so really I don't really see it as a loan. Here's hoping it turns out well and he's here for a few more years - good luck Austin!

 

Hopefully if he does well, we do well and we can both go up to league 1 together.
