Not sure if it was you who posted the Darragh Mcanthony podcast but I had a listen and when he knew Ivan Toney was leaving, he said the club would be active and not reactive and they did a deal for Johnson Clarke-Harris before the Toney one was officially announced.
That gives the fans a sense of yeah we are losing a good player but we have a plan.

Probably way off the mark but a player Woking had on loan last season from Southampton (Tyreke Johnson) has just been recalled by the Saints from a loan in the States as he is expected to go out to a League 2 team. I recommended him to Gary Bowyer and his main scout last season (forgotten his name) as he was having a great spell at Woking but he got a bad shoulder injury which cut his loan short - reason I say unlikely is he is more of a wide man than a striker. Got a trick or two and turned a number of NL defenders inside out, all I would say is he is better than any of the wide men we currently have at the club

 

Logic should tell you that if it is proving difficult to find 1 forward to replace Vaughan, it would be even harder to find 2 new ones. Imagine the pelters McCall would get if he let Guthrie go without having anyone new coming in, and imagine how much further up sh!t creek we would be if Novak then got injured in training and we were left with just Donaldson and Clarke as our forward options. Until we get one new forward in, it would be complete madness to let another one go.

The only part I really agree on is your point about our demonstrable strategy. Although I suspect the club can’t look 5 years ahead. Notwithstanding our short term strategy is fully publicly stated - to get out of the division.

We are in the black, not in the red. We were badly run from the moment Edin joined but he’s gone.

So to say a blanket “we’re badly run now” is just lazy thought IMO. There’s a lot going right, and there’s a lot that has had to be put right if you look at the bigger picture.

 

How can we hope to be self sustainable by signing 34 year old strikers, especially when nearly all our strikers are the wrong side of thirty. Surely our priority should be to sign an up and coming striker with a potential to move on for profit?

Whats your obsession with bashing McCall all the time? We know he is limited as a manager but I don’t solely blame him for the poor window so far. You’ve already made some basket case point that players won’t come here because he’s not “a Modern manager” or one who’s managed at the highest level. You don’t need to keep chiming in about it every two minutes.

 

Why plan for 46 games when you can plan for the last 18 instead.
