It’s an improvement to have them out of the way. We will be adding 2-3 new players. We are slowly improving, and come the start of the season we will have a much better squad than we did.

Are you suggesting that’s a weak squad? It looks alright to me, bar a couple of tweaks which we know are going to happen.

 

Logic should tell you that if it is proving difficult to find 1 forward to replace Vaughan, it would be even harder to find 2 new ones. Imagine the pelters McCall would get if he let Guthrie go without having anyone new coming in, and imagine how much further up sh!t creek we would be if Novak then got injured in training and we were left with just Donaldson and Clarke as our forward options. Until we get one new forward in, it would be complete madness to let another one go.

 

Not really. Clarke signed weeks ago when McCall was still working on getting Vaughan to stay.

 

If we are going on whats written down on paper, with Vaughan gone it looks weaker than last season as its still basically the same squad in defence and attack. That said, there is still time for more signings to come in and 2 to 3 is probably the correct number. In an ideal world i'd want a decent centre back, a proper out and out right back, another starting centre midfielder and a striker, preferably a young one with potential.

 

It seems like we've got the Nolan Sisters on here this morning with all the whining that's going on. I think we've got a couple of Mystic Megs on here too who can read Stuart's mind, plus Posion ivy and we all know who that one is.

 

The wholeheartedly agree with your suggested incomings! We are not there yet, but I we are not far off being a decent side in my view!

 

A right back is essential a left winger would be high up the list but unlike yourself a proven experienced striker required in my opinion

 

Exactly the scenario that led to the terrible January transfer window. Until we actually have a coherent transfer policy then each transfer window is going to keep affecting us in the next one or two at least.

I see Donadlson and Novak as the proven experience you're looking for. I think we need to start looking for that Nahki Wells/ Olly McBurnie player that can be sold on at a later date. Its what all the ambitious teams above us in the divisions are always looking to sign, easier said than done i know.

 

A lot rests with Cooke and Watt, two relatively inexperienced and young players. Our back four and keeper showed last year they fall apart if exposed and the strikers by and large fed off scraps although that maybe more down to Bowyers god awful defensive tactics.

 

All three strikers we have at the moment are centre forward types who hold the ball up and lay it off. We need a striker who can get behind defences and score goals someone with a proven record. In an ideal world another younger one who can act as cover and develop

 

This club has done nothing but lie to and mislead supporters for the past 3/4/5 years. We've also had six successive dreadful transfer windows leading to three years of constant decline. So forgive me, if I think it's a bit convenient that an article is released bigging up the third choice striker two days after we sell our best one. Bowyer did the same in January - waxed lyrical about Patrick returning from loan just to cover his arse in case he got no one in to replace Doyle, Vaughan and Oteh. One of which did not get replaced funnily enough.
