Decent signing. He scooped 6 player of the year awards at Scunny last season.

I am sure he has matured a lot since he was here on loan. I believe he played more centrally last season as opposed to out wide which is interesting.

I am a huge fan of Alex Gilliead. When he was here last he became our best ball carrier since Reidy when playing wide.He got us up the pitch on our terms
and enabled us to play from there. A very intelligent footballer who has developed well and will hopefully have some end product this time around.

Rather have Gilliead than Stevens last year. Rather have Eisa than Ismail. Rather have Cook than Donaldson. Rather have Threlkeld than FCD. Shaping up okay just need a second decent striker and perhaps Songo'o.

 

Good to see us recreating last year's all conquering Scunthorpe team.

 

On paper, it's not a signing that gets my juices flowing.

But, I get the distinct impression that the new manager doesn't suffer fools, underperformers or lazy players gladly. I expect they'll all be well drilled, their roles and responsibilities will be made specific and explicit and woe betide those that aren't doing as they're asked.

 

Not sure what to make of this. Looked decent against us, but only hope he didn’t step it up because he had a point to prove. Good luck all the same.

 

Always flattered to deceive when he he was here before, albeit in a division higher. But looked good against us last season and was Scunny POTS last season. Doesn't massively excite me but could be a good signing.
This is obviously the return of the familiar face from Sparks' recent statement.

 

Several years ago and a division higher. Hopefully he has matured. He's looked pretty decent against us recently.

 

Excellent work by the club for me. First we get a manager who was in work, had just got a club promoted to where we are wanting to be, on a very tight budget. We sign a goal scoring center forward, then we sign a player who has just scooped several POTY awards at his previous club.
Having said that Fordy doesn't particularly rate him so Adams and Turnbull really do need to up their game.

 

Two days before the season starts? Last year McCall was still searching for the 'final piece of the jigsaw' in October!

 

Nicky Law didn't get many direct assists but his calmness and ball control got us out of tight spots and up the pitch into goalscoring situations. Assists are a very unreliable stat.

 

I think he's got a chance of being a good signing. Time will tell, but I trust Derek Adams more than most of the naysayers on here

Gilliead always had much better ball control than Connolly. Connelly was just very quick. He ran down blind alleys far too often but seems to make better decisions now, judging by his recent games against us.

 

Jesus there's some doom and gloom merchants on here decent signing for me. Pleased with all signings so far will hold judgement on angol till I've seen him play. Adam's as just got a team promoted with lowest budget in football league so i think he knows what he's doing. Another target man and a central midfielder and where good to go

 

I’m probably looking more forward to this season than for a very long time. Most players recruited within a week of preseason starting(Thats a bloody first in my lifetime). A proper fitness team in place, a manager with a great track record of getting something out of bang average squads.

How many times year after year, playing trialists in preseason games have we seen a finalised squad two day before the season starts? Think about this and wonder why we always get off to poor starts?

 

Adams is the one who's reputation on the line, a very straight forward interview the other day leaving no one in doubt about what he wants and expects.
We haven't kicked a ball and some are questioning him, his CV is better than most at this level ffs give the guy and the players the club have signed a break.
