I'm getting fed up of our fans. Honestly, we sign an experienced pro who plays in the position we needed better quality and instantly we have negative comments. Not sure what's wrong in your lives but FFS get some positivity there and be happy we've brought in that experienced pro we need in the middle of the pitch who can be a leader.

Doncaster don't want him in the same way Carlisle didn't want Nahki Wells & Rochdale didn't want Gary Jones. I'll judge him when I see him, but first impressions are far from MEH. Lots of experience higher up, and a leader.

Donny fan here,
A good move for Clayton and for us, he wasn’t getting game time and he probably wants a new deal/better options at the end of the season. Schofield has come in and dropped him but we’re playing better football now than we did under Wellens/McSheffrey.
My view is if he plays anything like he has for us, your fans will be on his back pretty quickly.
- Drops deeper and deeper as the game goes on, often ended up between our 2 CB’s by the 60th minute.
- Wants to take every free kick but his delivery isn’t that great.
- If he is closed down quickly, you might as well sub him off.
- Great to have around the club
- Great leader on the pitch
- Great to have around young players
If he’s in your starting XI I’ll be happier as a Donny fan pushing you for a playoff spot.
I’ll nip on every now and again and gladly apologise at the end of the season if I’m wrong.

Personally I am well chuffed with this signing. Really experienced and sounds hungry, can score depending on position played, one last swansong in his career a la Gary Jones?? No ties if he becomes a shit signing

To those questioning why he is leaving Donny, we should know more than anyone that it simply just doesn't work out for certain players at certain clubs. That is football. Look at Eoin Doyle with us, for example

Sounds like the type of midfielder we need. We need someone to put their foot on the ball and drive us as a team upfield. Doesn’t appear to have a lot of goals. This could be a really good signing. So I have my positivity boots on today. I might put my thermals on and venture forth on Saturday. That should please @Loyalbantam

I don't know if he's still any good or not but he's not the profile of midfielder that we need in my opinion.
Also it does make me laugh when some fans on here are slated for being negative towards this. He's been part of a failing team and fans of said team are delighted that he's gone. Not to mention this club having very recent form for making disastrous signings very similar to this profile. I don't think anyone won't give him a chance but apprehension and downbeat comments are totally justified.bantamdave41, Bantamsteve, Onside and 5 others like this. -
I’ve just spoken to my Donny season ticket holder mate and it’s not good news. They had high hopes for him but said he turns up 1 in 5, his legs have gone and they played better with him out of the team. Gives the ball away a fair bit too. I hope he’s wrong but he did say it he might be good for the experience. The problem at Donny was they signed too many older players and he’s glad the new manager is shipping them out…oops.

First of the January signings that i am bothered about. Vastly experienced and likes a tackle. If he is as influential as Jones was - another golden oldie - then this will be Hughes’ most important signing here.

If you just took a minute and actually read the three following sentences, in an objective way, you might see I am undecided/neutral about the signing.
We are currently in League Two, the signing of Clayton is what it is. He has played a lot of games at a higher level.
Unlike some, I do not think he is necessarily a great signing, nor do I think it is a hopeless addition.
I will have to see the evidence.
For me, that is a balanced and reasonable way forward.
I am sorry if you feel it is ‘ludicrous’.baggers, Botswana Bantam, vladimir and 2 others like this. -

Hopefully, Clayton will be back for the run in. If we are going to miss him for 2 or 3 weeks I'd rather it be against Grimsby, Crawley, Sutton and Rochdale, than Swindon, Gillingham, Northampton and Leyton.

Always played well against us.
34 years old and Donny got rid within a year.
However, if his legs hold up then he could be a decent short term signing but I have to question why he couldn’t start for Donny.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Morley Bantam, Doodle, Manningham bantam and 1 other person like this. -
