Not a clue. All I can recall is Donny’s anti football formation and tactics.

    I think he did tbh.

He did alright there tbh. Probably because it's his level but if he can get a contract with a league 2 club then fair play to him.

I wonder whether too many games in a short period of time has contributed to Clayton's injury?

Will be a big miss, but chance for Ryan East perhaps, with Smallwood dropping back deeper

No shock. That midfield 3 got played to death recently.

    Least it brakes them up.

Wondered the same this morning when I was reading the article. Since the Gillingham game at the end of feb kicked off a heavy period of games, Clayton has only completed 90 mins one time in the 5 games after Gillingham, which shows Hughes has wanted to manage his minutes but even still it's a lot of work for a guy his age who has spent the last few years being in and out of squads.

I'm 99% sure East will start, but If he's fit I wouldn't mind Osadebe coming in just because Grimsby play so wide and also have two 10s filling in so might need some legs.

Its “ breaks” , that’s as daft as your comment! East isn’t a spare Clayton.

Perfect opportunity to switch to wingbacks, Smallwood and East, Walker in front, Gillead as a wingback

Good as Clayton has been it was obvious he was looking tired last 2 or 3 games. It has been said before but now with hindsight, I think Hughes could have managed the squad and subs better

Isn’t Walker injured? Think he is after Hughes had playing like the walking dead when he was clearly injured.

Probably needs to be Chapman then. I'd have Banks and Gillead as wingbacks. Though I'd be OK with Gillead left, Halliday right and Banks in the 10 role.

Big blow losing Clayton obviously but like others have said it does break up our under attack minded midfield, 2 from Smallwood, Gilead or East should be sufficient to cover the deeper roles and the 3 more attacking roles from either Banks, Chapman, Osadebe, Derbyshire, Costello and Walker obviously depends on who's fit and available. We are at a stage now where if we are going to try squeeze into an auto place then we have to try to be more adventurous especially at home and changing from 3 defensive mids to 2 would be an attempt at doing that enabling us to get a more attack minded player on field.

I think so. He got a knock against Hartlepool and was eventually replaced and wasn't then available against Carlisle. We'll have to hope he is fit again for the Grimsby game. Being without both Clayton and Walker would be a blow.
