Wonder if Crichlow could play in Clayton's position until he comes back?

That would be a far too positive move, wash your mouth out.

Ah...the old classic "he creates chances for assists to be made"

If he was standing by himself on the goal-line he would still pass backwards.

We're at home and must win... East in for Clayton and a wide player or two.

Clayton is a big miss but he's been poor in recent games. East deserves this chance now and if Hughes picks someone else then he wants his head testing

Did anyone else see Orient manager Richie Wellans make fun of Adam Clayton when he was subbed? Wellens mimicked Clayton running off he field very very slowly. Clayton seemed to react quite angrily to it.

No I saw that. Wellens is a wind up merchant.

I saw him having a laugh or it seemed that way and a pat on the back with Cook

might have done so because Clayton made two attempts to make a professional foul but was too slow and got fresh air both times

So did their midfield guy, exactly the same when one of ours at full pelt turned one of theirs? He’s a steadying influence and has been since he arrived. Great signing for the job he was brought in for imho.

He has been a very positive signing, it's just a shame we didn't get him earlier.

Unlike Gary Jones, time has definitely taken it's toll on Clayton, and it's a bit of a shame.

You can see it most clearly when Clayton tries to turn under pressure - his brain knows exactly what he should be doing to get out of those spots, and his legs/knees just can't do it fast enough!

It can be costly, and gift chances to the opposition, but it doesn't happen often enough to be truly terrified of it. It's just... you can see he was a quality player in his day.

Young, strong, athletic midfielders now hold an advantage over him where before, I imagine he was quick and nimble enough to evade their challenges.

Maybe so but if he can have a solid 50-60 mins then he's a good player to have in our midfield for the playoffs I reckon.

Then we need to sign a 5/6 year younger version for next season.

He’s made one mistake that led to a goal Jon from memory…….Rochdale at home maybe?
I get what you mean though.

There have been other times where he's been caught in possession, but there was one really clear one where they took it off him and scored directly from that. That's probably the one you mean? Can't remember the game.

But yeah, it does happen, where I imagine 4-5 years ago those players wouldn't have had a sniff.

Yeah, especially if we go up.

Luckily for us, I don't see anyone at Carlisle or Stockport County that can really impose themselves on Clayton in the play off lottery. Callum Guy I suppose is the man to watch for Carlisle, but I don't really see him as a bully.

Mellish will be a miss for them!
