No it doesn't. You can easily concede 1 goal in a game and defend abysmally or even keep a clean sheet for that matter. Alternatively you could concede 4 and defend really well.

I never said we didn’t defend well, we defended like warriors but that in itself tells the story and the point I’m making that going forwards we are dross.
    It needs to improve

Just watched the extended highlights, thought we were the better team and had the better chances.
Looks like we’re improving which is good, just need to finish our chances.

Our best 2 chances fell to a full back against the run of play. We need better than that

But like it or not that’s our game. It has been since Hughes arrived

Of course it matters. We were quick enough to criticise poor defending in the prior matches. I don’t like the way we set up and would love to see good attacking football, but we need to applaud good defensive work

Stop moving the goal posts to suite your argument, my original comment was with regards you agreeing with the Wrexham fans comment "BC performance is probably the worst out of all the games we've had since promotion" not knowing how other teams have performed against them.

You seem to be in the minority saying we didn't play well against Wrexham.
@SteveC@SteveC "Having gone to the game, I personally thought we played a lot better than recent performances. Halliday had a great game"
@vin weasel@vin weasel "Yet we created better chances in the 2nd half"#

Then you have to go on the Wrexham forum to try and justify your point, "Wrexham forum is an interesting read to gauge the home fans assessment of us but this post is the best of the lot" that's really sad @Loyalbantam@Loyalbantam.

So far this season we've once again look vulnerable from set pieces/corners :
Wright 20 yard free kick Crawley.
Andrews short corner headed goal Accrington.
Olaofe header from a corner Stockport.
Mellon 20 yard free kick free-kick Morecambe.
Boyle header from a corner Wrexham.
5 of the 8 goals we've conceded so far this season were not from open play.

We should have scored 3 against Stockport. We beat Crewe and could have scored more per the highlights. We've gone to Wrexham and played well.

BuT wE'rE sO pOoR gOiNg FoRwArD!!111

Those are three tough games, and Saturday is another tough one. A draw or win on Saturday and really only the Morecambe performance was inexplicably bad.

Was saying the exact same thing just the other day Dave. There was a bit of debate on here last season regarding the merits of bringing everybody back for a corner against leaving somebody up. I just think that it allows the opposition to load more players into your box and attacking areas, coupled with zonal marking, so creates a greater threat against you than the benefits of having everybody to defend. We were susceptible to short corners last season as well, we don't seem to be 'switched on' or aware enough to deal with them!!

Marking zonally makes us rigid and less likely to break ranks to deal with said short corners.

Yes, agree and the players don't 'react' themselves to stop it because they have an 'area' to mark!! Happened a couple of times in the Burton cup game and Orient away as well....

You could play Halliday up front but it wouldn't make him a centre forward.

The guy is a full back, regardless of where he finds himself on the pitch.

Very few specialist wing backs most are either converted wingers or full backs

A couple of goalkeepers errors amongst them on Tuesday we were lacking the height of McDonald and Cook who would have been marking Boyle

Good teams defend well away from home. Certainly last season we did. Might not be attacking football which we all like, but it gets the job done. I am sure Wrexham fans didn’t enjoy it,

Wrexham will find out the hard way that it takes more than a chequebook to get out of the khazi league we are in. Just like Salford have learned - several years of spunking money on big wages to try and buy the league, doesn’t work, sack manager, repeat season after season. Not dissimilar to our own clubs mistakes by the way, with the exception of spending huge sums

In fairness Halliday was a cracking signing as a full back. Steady and away most of last season.

Halliday gets up and down the pitch unlike Ridhalge. He had our two best chances in the last match
