Bobby Pointon (He's one of our own)

Pointon has gone from exciting us all under Hughes and McDonald to now being ridiculed by GA and being what can only be described as ostracised. Does anyone know what’s going on? Why is GA not playing him - how can we voice our disapproval at such a young exciting talent being snubbed?

 

Ryan "Youth Development" Sparks has once again gone for a manager that doesn't fit with his ethos even a tiny bit.

Just like he did with Derek Adams.

That would make sense - or maybe tapped up and he’s going in the summer? Club maybe received an offer too late on in Jan and it’s a lot of money and they don’t want him injured as he’s championship bound?

 

Wilson is also being ignored yet he looks a prospect when given game time.

If GA was making the right changes and giving young players a chance, I would say he needs more time but I think I've seen enough now to know he's not the right man for the job. He needs to go, as does Sparks

 

Give over. He's played less than 10 league games. He's nit going to league one, let alone the championship

Ok mr intelligent and insightful who clearly must have an opinion - why is he being left out? Because in the games I saw he was positive, running into spaces, taking on places and was a true breath of fresh air.

Plenty of those teams higher up the food chain will gamble on players with good metrics. To a Championship club it's worth sticking a player like Bobby in the Development Squad.

However they're going to need to see those metrics:

No, Sparks refusing to discuss contract until end of season.

 

Well let’s hope that contract discussion involves Pointon being central to a major rebuild without GA involved or Sparks! And Gent!

 

You say that but he’s shown enough ability in a few games at an age. I know McBurnie had that Man Utd youth cup loan. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a champ or league one team thinking about giving him a year or 2 in the u23s. A Swansea or a Posh or a Sunderland. And from what’s heard he’ll be on more money there too

 

The graph is measuring shot assists and key passes for some quality wingers in L1/2.

Pointon's well ahead of those names on both metrics.

Naturally you'd expect those numbers to decline the more he plays, but he's showing potential, which is what clubs above us will be looking at.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone offered him a deal.

It's not all about getting first team game time under a disinterested manager and an unsuitable regime as someone else suggested.

 

As i posted on Saturday, i believe he wanted out last season, interest from above, club vetoed , now can not get a game, no matter how bad the performance.

We can say he's made a fantastic start and now we're crippling him.
