Can't believe Sparks has collapsed under the pressure from the miserable moaning booing minority. Perhaps they should be on the interview panel so they can tear each other to bits when it doesn't work out

If he's struggling I can help with that. It's not Adams but it is linked to something he has left behind

They can't get much worse mate, although I was not in a hurry to sack him once you start criticising the people who pay your salary you're on dodgy ground, as Ryan would be fully aware.

The decision was right to get rid but we have bigger problems. An owner with no interest and CEO completely out of his depth.

Adams was literally goading Sparks to sack him with the crap he's been coming out with. Once you lose your audience there is no way back as Adams found out to his demise.

I was trying to be optimistic!

Feel a bit sad that we had to sack another manager but things weren't working and the atmosphere at Stevenage was so flat.

I'm more hoping that we get it right next time than expectation that we will though.

Also the number of players out of contract at the end of the season is worrying. Its a real rebuilding job needed. But then again many will say those players are not good enough.

Ordinarily I would agree but this wasn't a Bowyer type manager where the bloke is quite nice etc. The football was getting worse and the relationship with fans was 0. Extending to the end of the season might have actually done a lot more harm than the good you are suggesting

That's similar to how I feel about the immediate future. My optimistic self wants it to provide the opportunity foe a reset for the club. To clear the decks, to spend some time discussing what kind of footballing club we want to be and to recruit a manager who both shares that view and has the qualities to at least start that journey.

My realistic self has little confidence in the two main players - the disinterested Rupp and the inexperienced Sparks - having the imagination and leadership to take a longer term view.

Yeah I think once he said what he said he's either pushing them to sack him or he just doesn't give a shit anymore or both. I get the feeling he'll be spilling the beans on what went down a few months down the line as he seems that type of guy

Absolute joke this club is , didn't like Adam's ,but why give him a transfer window FFS .Did they not learn anything when they gave Mc Call an extension on his contract ,then sack him ? The club will be folded in two years if we cant get out of this division ........................... EMBARRASSED

Absolute farce of a football club. The worst era I've witnessed in 40 odd years of following city.

See you here next year for the same thread.

A suggestion that was made on here before that I thought was good was some kind of mentor/coach for Ryan who has a good history in football. Being in HR myself, and an active coach I thought it was a good suggestion.

It was one of the things I wanted to pick Roger's brains on when we met up at Stevenage but he didn't turn up unfortunately so I didn't get chance to ask!

Matt Taylor as in the Exeter manager (and not the recently departed Walsall manager)?

Cant see him wanting to come here.

btw @Fordy117@Fordy117 and I now agree on one thing - Sparks has to go for us to make any progress.

I never thought that our club needed a D.o.F, but I think we do now...

Interesting viewpoints on the merry-go-round. I was looking at the previous appointments and why they might not have worked…

McCall - driven out by Rahic.
Grayson - was never likely to be a serious long term fix.
    Collins - don’t go there
Hopkin - I can see why the club appointed him given what he did with Livingstone in a similar situation of fan unrest, but the club was still suffering from the Rahic era
Bowyer - the closest we have come to any kind of stability. He got the club, a decent man.
McCall (again) - clearly didn’t work 2nd time around
Trueman/Sellars - form fell off a cliff and you can see why Sparks wanted an experienced head
Adams - what can I say that hasn’t already been said.

All I all there are mitigating circumstances in all cases. We crave for the stability of the Parkinson era. I don’t think the club is in as bad a place as people think it is. We are financially solvent and we don’t have a Rahic at the wheel.

It’s as simple as finding the right manager that we can all buy into, but clearly that’s not as easy as it looks!

His CV suggested to most he was the right man we started well Angol & Cook looking a handful, but once Angol got his long term injury we had nothing to replace him with, but Adams openly stated we had signed players with a history of injuries not the brightest comment to make.
Once he could not turn our results around he struggled, as with many it was a matter of getting out of this league I personally didn't care how we achieve that but he never looked like he could get that winning run going and once you start openly calling players out then have a go at your fans it was inevitable his days were numbered.
Trueman taking over for the time being it will be interesting what he's learnt from Adams and wether he can turn our season around as he and Sellars did last season, if he does then he will give Ryan a bit of breathing space.
