It's a great initiative by the club, and hope all the kids had a great day. I just worry we might be putting players at risk doing meet and greets.

He said the same. It’s only a little thing for the kids but long overdue.
I agree about the meet and greet thing.
Wife and I have been to Headingley for Yorkshire games a fair few times and the kids on the boundary are desperate for autographs but it’s a definite no no for all the times we’ve been in last few months.

I think they should ask people to wear masks in the concourse

    Really?
Anyone who has followed the long running Covid thread on these pages knows that I've been cautious and critical of those with what I consider to have been too laissez-faire attitudes to the pandemic. But this statement strikes me as hyperbolic.

Yes, there have been some recent Covid deaths amongst young people. But my understanding is that those have been mostly un-jabbed or single jabbed. I also suspect that most of those young people were either significantly overweight or had chronic heath issues.
Yes, there have been deaths of some double jabbed people. But my understanding is that those have been mostly older, vulnerable people.

If there had been many deaths of young, healthy, double-jabbed people, as you assert, it would have been all over the media like a rash.

I suppose it all depends on how you define many when talking about the number of deaths.

in the past 5 weeks there have been less than 30 deaths in total in all of Bradford hospitals where COVID was listed on death certificate. And in past 45 days just 35 deaths where person tested positive in previous 28 days.

So how many is ‘many double jabbed young people’?

It goes without saying that many people there yesterday will have been Asymptomatic and without question many people will have caught Covid end of
But I guess that’s what we now have to live with.
I wore my mask the moment I entered the stadium until the moment I left. My choice

Although The government still warns us about the dangers of Covid and to still to be vigilant and use face masks and hand sanitizer whenever possible. Trust me watch cases rise now the football season has started. The club has taken a extremely cautious stance throughtbtge pandemic and to throw it all away now seems ridiculous

We probably have to learn to live with Covid, BUT, after seeing the irresponsible way in which people interacted yesterday, I’m in agreement with you on this regarding the spread. Millions of people going toe to toe at football games with no thought or care. You would have thought looking round yesterday (and it was probably the same at every other game), that Covid never existed. I’m expecting a massive spike not too far down the line.

Yes I was nervous too, and not helped by the queues in the Midland for the toilets and catering backing from the concourse onto the stands 10 seconds after the end of first half. Never known that. If you had not been exposed to Covid until yesterday, you have now. One toilet had two of the three cubicles out of order half an hour before kick-off, another queue! Confirms my cynicism of the extra £50 ST and where it has and has not gone, despite the rhetoric.

Hope the national experiment works (I really do). And I did seriously enjoy being back!

    Yesterday I attended.

I got there early, and left about 10min after the final whistle so it has cleared a bit.

Just look after yourself and you'll be ok. There were parts of the ground that were fairly sparce such as A block in midland Road or in the gods of the main stand.

Do what is right for you and in what you consider your risk level.

Whatever makes you comfortable. I think it will be less attended on Tuesday and quite different to today.

The area of the meet and greet is well ventilated and I believe you need to be together for around 15 minutes (or so I’ve read) to be vulnerable to catching the virus. Looking at those pictures I’d suggest the players were at very low risk of catching the virus (hopefully). Are the club taking an unnecessary risk, possibly. Are we helping to build the bond between club and young supporters of the future, most definitely.

Putting people back into a large crowd scenario means you cannot possibly uphold the covid rules as before, it's simply impossible within the constraints of a stadium like VP. Best thing for any individual is to weigh up the pros and cons. If you feel there might be a risk then don't go, you won't get 12, 13 0000 people following what you think is best way to deal with it. No point in going knowing you'll come away disappointed at what you think is people not taking Coivd seriously. If you feel wearing a mask is appropriate the entire game then do so. If you are uncomfortable in any way then I think as an individual you know not to attend.
