The black lad in midfield WAS Nortey wasn't it? The other black lad on trial was Solvet and he was playing at the back?

 

And the only team we beat is Guiseley. Works both ways...

 

Ah. I had it the other way round. Either way, whoever it was in midfield - leave well alone. And the centre back wasnt as bad but still ain't good enough.

 

Well I was very impressed with today. The first team was pretty much flawless to be honest, none of them had a bad game at all.

More than any ability, the best asset that Vaughan and Donaldson have brought to the club is a brain, they know exactly what to do and when. I'd put money on them getting a shit tonne between them too.

Defence looks much better too although O'Connor still needs replacing with Paudie imo.

Akpan had a much better game than last week and palmer is another one who has that intelligence in him.

Gibson did well too, won a fair few tackles and is starting to make better decisions on the ball too. I still think he's better centrally and we really need that LW in. Scannell was excellent.

The second team was ok. Hornby looked assured, French good again, Henley is very athletic, devine was decent too to my shock and wood and Riley were ok.

Nortey looked off the pace and made some really poor decisions on the ball. Solvet, playing out of position at CB looked impressive and was very strong in the tackle.

Style of play Bowyer is drilling into them is good too. Playing out from the back is option number one and everyone looks like they want the ball. But when we have to go long, it isn't aimless hoofs, its balls into space or into the body of the strikers where we either keep it or win a foul.

Really excited for the season now.

 

Nortey was in midfield and I thought he played well in parts, winning the ball back. Patrick was also playing in midfield for some reason and kept dropping in centrally. He's grown his hair out.

Solvet was playing left back I believe and looked poor.

 

More importantly is the ground still covered in bird shit and disgusting toilets?

 

He was released by Dover so that tells me enough!!!

 

I really like the sound of this Palmer boy. Haven't seen a negative mention of him. And by the sound of it ( by ppl that actually went to these friendlies), we seem to have a team that plays together . I'm excited at the prospect of winning some games.
