So .......... Wigan are the next to rock up at VP.

Nothing will hinge on this match - But with just 2 weeks remaining (at the time of KO), I dare say GB will have a fair idea of his matchday squad for Cambridge (Allowing for niggles and injuries).
Wigan for sure will pose a more realistic challenge, but we should not read too much into any result, Win, Lose or Draw. It'll be more about who can play specific roles ..... and who can't !!

I don't really expect to see a city Win, but I would hope to see a game plan, lot's of effort and hope for the coming months. :)

I'd just like to see two up front. I don't think it's too much to ask.

I’d like to see us win it as winning breeds confidence, no matter who is is against, and we need to wash away the negative mindset from last year. But if we lose, no, it isn’t the end of the world.

The signs have been promising and we look like we have a plan. Hopefully the team building exercises have brought the players together.

It will be interesting to see the starting XI as GB needs to be getting a good idea now. Who partners likely captain Vaughan out of Doyle and Donaldson?

Has Gibson done enough to edge ahead of Ismael for LW?

Will Akpan or Anderson partner Palmer?

Will Paudie edge out French and O’Connor to partner Richards-Everton? Or Will French and Paudie start??!

Will Riley edge ahead of Longridge at LB?

Has Mellor got first dibs on RB ahead of Henley.

Is he tempted to start Hornby over OD?

There’s only really Palmer, Scannell and Vaughan that looked nailed on starters IMO!

We haven’t learnt anything from the trips to Eccleshill and Brighouse that will effect the first team......

As long as it’s a credible performance with some semblance of the game plan we’re working to, and we don’t get injuries, it’s all good. These are really just training sessions. It’s the first 3-5 games of the season proper that will indicate what we might be capable of.

I still think we have important business to do. We need at least 2 more quality players.

If fit, I would say the following are certain starters, the rest of positions up for grabs

    Mellor
    Paudie
    Scannell
    Palmer
    Vaughan
    Donaldson

First choice keeper will be interesting
    Who partners Paudie?
Longridge or Riley at left back?
new central midfield player to partner Palmer hopefully
ismail or new left winger perhaps?

One or two positions we have good options. But despite there being numbers available, I still think Central Midfield is by far the weakest area, has to be priority to bring one in

I think the first name on the teamsheet against Cambridge will be Devine, as sub.

Should be picking a side as close as possible to the starting eleven against Cambridge for the last two senior friendlies

Wouldn't mind seeing him have another go in a central position, acquitted himself well there against Liverpool. If it were to be him and Palmer though I worry that maybe too lightweight for L2 as I haven;t seen enough of Palmer to see if he can do the physical side yet.

Gibson isn’t going to play in a 2 man midfield

Not a done thing that we're playing with a 2 man midfield, definitely gives us another option in any case

It would appear that GB intends to field 2 or 3 trialists at some point tomorrow ?

    http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/993370981?-1814:2216

And that kind of concerns me.
Primarily because it indicates our Budget is exhausted, but also that City are now frog kissing and fishing in the filthiest of schitt pools. I've NOT seen any of these trialists, but comments on here and media reports suggest not ONE is upto the standard for a Club aiming for a top 3 finish........ Or even top half of the table !!

I could well be proved wrong, if NOT, then let's hope some decent Loans are in the pipeline ? ;)

The 4 trailists we have in still are Chris Taylor, Nortei Nortey, Andy Taylor and Luke Wall so expect it will be them. It's probably also to boost numbers a bit as we only have 21 outfield players that are fit and most likely any loans won't come in until the season has started when the window for Premier League and Championship clubs has closed and squads back from their pre season tours with settled squads.

It's interesting that this is our second home match of the pre season. Seems like GB is trying to get the team used to the stadium.

Full marks? If they'd have priced it right in the first place it would have saved them a job.

Need to start with 80% of the starting 11 and play them for at least 60 mins plus now.
