To think I had @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey and @BoingBoing@BoingBoing arguing with me that they didn't think Jack Payne would be on a lot more money than Shay!!!

    Give over park.

We changed manager and went for one who just wanted to get the team hard to beat. He scored double figures from midfield in the worst team we ever had. Was farmed out and wasted on the left wing because of our lopsided side.

He is far too good for league two.

In a decent side he would be class. Just because he doesn’t work like a dog we can’t appreciate him

    The fact is ........... HE wouldn't !!
Jack couldn't hack it in League ONE, post January (A self discipline problem ?).
Therefore - How would he hack it lower down, in League two ?

    YEAH ........ The mind boggles.

Players with ambition want a higher status, but 'some' just can't put in the hard yards consistently. (I think Bowyer saw this) So it'll be interesting to see how MANY games he plays this coming season, in the Championship, should anyone actually sign him ?

From Christmas even Obrien looked tired a tad. Who knows what happened but the Oxford fans I spoke too (AWAY) said why are you best two players on the bench. Anderson looked and played like he was wearing flip flops or like a frog on a wet lawn.....

Can’t actually work out if you’re being serious. Why are championship clubs looking to sign him if he couldn’t cope in league two?

It’s the same old rubbish that gets trotted out in England. He can’t cope with the physical side.

Much like the many who said Guardiola couldn’t come here and pass his way to titles and couldn’t train tackling or pass it out from the keeper. No you couldn’t do that in England. Well look at him now. 198 points in two seasons and every domestic trophy in his cabinet.

Just because he’s small and doesn’t run all day like a dog we couldn’t appreciate his class. We will be two leagues below him next season.

I think teams worked us out that we put everything through Payne. If we had other players who had quality too he would have then found space. They knew we were a one man team. That’s the difference.

Nothing to do with not coping with the physical side. He was carrying our attacking burden on his own

The second half of last season proved it and it didn’t take Bowyer long to see it. In a team desperate to stay in league one he couldn’t hold a place

To think you pretend all the arguing pisses you off and then you drag up old threads and twist them in an attempt to try and point score.

Good players handle tight marking better. I remember a couple of years a go when we had a decent team we played a poor Gillingham side we had two sometimes three players on Bradley Dack and yet he ran the show

That’s not the point here. Dack will play in the premier league. The point here is you said he can’t cope with league one/league two. Baffling

Not YET, we won't !! (Harrogate may make him their 'stellar signing', if the money is right ! ;) )

As for the same old rubbish ? That is rubbish in itself !

Jack (the messiah) failed to ride tackles, failed to make space when multi marked (enabling space for others !!!), and rarely tracked back to help team mates, for the cause (An' when he did, he fecked up !).

SO .......... NOW I've painted him to look like Josh Wright ............ Begin your debate .........

Where have I said that the arguing pisses me off? I haven't. I didn't bump the thread up did I? It was a point that was relevant to what had been posted..........

That wasn't because he wasn't good enough it was because of a system/formation/player change to try change it up to get points in an extremely desperate situation.

You seriously can't be saying he wasn't good enough for us last season or for a relegation threatened team in League 1?

Jack Payne was completely wasted here. Put good players around him and he wouldn’t look out of place at Blackburn or Birmingham. Anyone saying he was worked out or that he couldn’t hack league 1 football are seriously clueless about how football works.

What we really need is the absolute shtest players going. I mean big heavy pub style cloggers. That's how a league 2 side is better than a top premiership team. The like of Man city and Liverpool wouldn't be able to cope with our physical presence. In fact league 2 really is the premiership and the premiership is league2 !!!
Some fans really do talk utter shte.

Jack Payne wouldn't hack league two but in the Championship he'll do well. Pitches are better, bigger resulting in more time, space and probably better players around him. Plus, he'd get lost in a hoofball side but play it on the floor and he'll be one of the better players for sure.
