    We're a 4th divison Club signing 4th divison players.
Some folk need a dose of realism , we certainly won't be buying ourselves out of this league and if anyone thinks otherwise they are delusional.

I'm shocked, when we are in L2 and recently relegated , that we haven't signed a wide player that can
    a. put in a consistent 8/10 performance every week
    b. cross on a six pence every time
    c. chip in with a dozen or so goals every season
    d. point to recent promotions

    Not too much to ask.

    I agree.

The idea you need a top class team to get out of L2 isn't the case at all.

The quality of signings won't stop us going up. They're fine.

It's the hangover from last year, and the poor players with poor attitudes and no bottle that will stop us.

    Released by Bury in 2018.

    Released by Walsall in 2019.

Doesn't seem like a very inspiring signing.

You have no idea whether the recruitment is dreadful or not.. until we see the team that emerges

    Not inspiring, possibly dreadfull.
Recruitment mainly dictated by the 16 contracted shower of shite still wanting their salaries.
However, whatever the quality ( or lack of) of our new recruits, at least there's a bit of thought behind the signings

Are you sure it's that bad?

We need a squad with depth, and we're never going to sign 22 first team quality players right away.

We started the 2012-13 season with Zavon Hines in the starting line up. Is Zeli Ismail really any worse?

We started 2012-13 with Luke Oliver. Now we've got Richards-Everton. Is he really that much worse?

We started 2012-13 with Carl McHugh as back up in defence, now we've got French. Is there a big difference?

We started 2012-13 with Will Atkinson in and around the first team, is Jermaine Anderson really much worse?

For me, the obvious thing Bowyer is adding is squad depth, an improved bench in terms of options, and the ability to play a formation other than some jingle bells christmas tree crap that Hopkin was stuck with.

However I agree that we need to strengthen the first XI, and we still have some way to go on that front.

Not all bad, not all good - but to be 'concerned' is a bit impatient.

Last summers name signings such as Payne got many excited. And we bombed. Give Bowyer a chance. See how they perform. Then judge.

Folk aren't going to want to hear it, however at best next season we're treading water, this is because we'll still have plenty of last season's crap holding us back. They don't want to be here, many of us don't want them here. Contracts and fat salaries ( for this level) dictate otherwise.
Next summer when the dross has gone, we can start to build with much more solid foundations.
Season after that will be the one where we push for play-off/auto spots.
And that is only if GB knows what he's doing now. Or it's goodnight Vienna

Welcome aboard and good luck to him.

I'm hoping for some transfer news on the new spine of the team soon though. Good center back, center midfielder and striker needed. Get the feeling from these early signings though that we need to move some of the big earners on before we can do that, by the time that happens you have to wonder who will be left available.

For me, this represents better back up on the wings than we had last season.

I calculate that because we will have back up on the wings, unlike last season.

Regardless of what people think or expect from Ismail, it's clear Bowyer is aware (unlike Rahic) that a squad needs balance, not just names plucked out of a hat.

Can I just ask why most are getting their undies in a twist, when we signed players of the calibre of Payne, Scannell and co last season; and they underperformed?

What do past achievements even count for anymore.

    Just saying.

We said that when Anthony O'Connor got slated by Aberdeen fans. They were correct.

All the signings Bowyers made have something to prove and kick start their careers, which for me is better than signing journey men like Wright and Akpan that have played in the championship and don’t think they’ve anything to prove , so don’t show any fight or passion for the club. The signings so far don’t look that great on paper , but these guys may just work their socks off for each other and bond into a good team.

    Good luck to the lad.

We needed wide players and defenders so at least we seem to be addressing the right areas this time round!

On the face of it doesn't sound over inspiring but it's a clean slate at a lower level so hopefully he gets his proverbial in gear and shows us properly what he can do.

Bowyer clearly sees something in him so we can only trust the managers judgement and start by getting behind him.

So let's keep it positive and good luck to the fella.

I know a coach who has worked with him, he said when he is on his game he can be a handful and thinks we are getting him at the right age and point in his career.
We need to remember how crap the so called 'big names' on the whole turned out to be last season and at least give the new guys a chance - like most I am hoping there will be one or two who come in who raise our hopes a little more and just hoping some of last seasons deadwood can be moved on so GB has a bit more funding to play with

Didn't notice the date on those posts from that forum then?

It's from last Summer, when he joined them permanently after he had been on loan there.
