God we were clueless today. Really bad and didn't deserve anything.
Credit to Wycombe though, Although a pretty poor side, I thought they worked hard today as a team. Mackail - Smith especially stood out for me.
We just didn't turn up. End of.
Sloppy passes, poor corners, throw ins, and the usual lack of quality balls into the box just added to the fans frustrations, We just lost possession all to easy and cheaply
Thought O' Connor and McGowan had a good game but some of our players really need to look at themselves after this debacle.
Coleville, Gibson and Miller only other plus points and surely must warrant a start in the next game.
And Michael Collins?
Well, sorry pal but with respect, I think you are out of your depth here.
We need a manager who can get the best out of these players, but sadly it's the opposite.
The players look unfit, confused and unguided,
Perfect recipe for league 2 football unfortunately, unless a change is made sooner rather than later

Fast forward 8 years from our darkest times and the mood is becoming worse now than ever. People are becoming apathetic which is a whole lot worse than angry. For me the appointment of Collins may be the bell beginning to toll. The longer the rot spreads the more damage will be inflicted. I worry that this season could be a catastrophe. My dad who has had a season ticket since he started taking me in the late 80s has not set foot in VP since McCall left. I thought this was an over reaction but maybe it was the start of our next decline.
Obviously the saddest part is that over the last 6 seasons we have had moments that made you feel like we could be reliving our 90s resurgence all over again. It feels like we are about to be dragged back down to the gutter. I cant face trips to Crewe, Bury. Port Vale and Macclesfield all over again. Maybe Yorkshire Sculpture Park do season tickets?Inspector, Pineapple Salesman, Briggo and 7 others like this. -
Not just bad, but amateur and clueless in everything we’ve done, with and without the ball, individually and collectively.
Other than Scannell, There’s not a single player in that side who rates more than a 4/10 for that half.
Josh Wright makes me pine for Romain Vincelot. Not the one of 16/17 who was central to our playoff run. The 17/18 one who was half arsed and disinterested. That Vincelot still shits on Wright.

As frustrated as we all are, and I do mean all because even the happiest of happy clappers can't be happy with that performance, and listening to Collins post match interview the man doesn't have a clue of his best team or fromation.
We won on Tuesday so why change things, he said he played Seedorf for his pace yet that was a gamble he did not have to take, many said we hoped he'd play a recognised formation for the Burton and to be fair he did revert to 4-4-2 and we won, whf did he try and tinker to make himself look like a technical genius.
If Collins is here next Saturday go 4-4-2 drop either Akpan or Wright (both were poor today) and play the kid Colville, play the kid Miller along side Doyle, Doyles best when he has a big lad by his side today he was coming so deep to get involved it was laughable, maybe Mellor for Riley, and Gibson for Scannell if he's not 100% and if it's successful stick with it.Hugh Jarse, Morley Bantam, FrenchBantam and 6 others like this. -

Seriously though, great post. Even when we were being tonked by Rochdale and Accrington at home in those dark days, it did feel like there was still a pride in supporting the club. I don't feel that at all now.
The club has become a moderately rich man's plaything and I've lost the connection I felt for now.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Briggo, Morley Bantam, Old Grey Fox and 6 others like this. -

Absolutely, categorically clueless.
Collins, what the HELL were you thinking dropping Miller for a midfielder? Did you REALLY expect a winger to perform a Michael Owen role getting behind the back line? REALLY?!
What on EARTH was our tactic today?
Wycombe were a League Two-quality side with a League Two-style mentality: get the ball to Morris, Morris employs a shoot-on-sight policy, if that gets deflected, it goes for a corner - which is great because Jacobson is quality at corners.
Simple, easy to scout, relatively easy to defend (stick a defensive midfielder on Morris).
Anyone could spot that was their tactic, and they could then play around that - but it was there, always, a threat.
And our threat?
Zero.
None.
No plan, no concepts, no ideas.
One up front again with Doyle? Utter disgrace.
Doyle looks completely inept - AND HE'S NOT - it's just Collins is trying to be clever - and he admitted as much on Radio L**ds. He thought they'd worked out pace would hurt Wycombe - so he went back to sheer ineffectual formations with only one true striker and players (again) out of position.
Keep it simple, Collins.
4-4-2.
Two strikers.
No messing.
And for what it's worth, Miller is our best forward by a country mile.Morley Bantam, Spenny, Chad and 5 others like this. -
There is no doubt he's raw but that was what was called for, Burtons 2 CD were having it far too easy for most of the game, and that's not having a go at Miller or Doyle we played far to many high balls to them.Bantamsmike, JudgeMental, CT Bantam and 4 others like this. -
Yes, he applied himself and his effort has to be applauded but he showed NOTHING in any game to suggest he deserves a chance in L1.

The problem is not the team on the pitch - It's the one OFF it that is hurting us.

My first game today and I can’t believe what I saw. Where’s the urgency, passion and game plan?
Akpan did a good job of avoiding contact with the ball, wide open spaces in front of Chicksen, a coach who never raised his voice in anger or gave direction.
That was as bad a game as I’ve watched since we nearly went out of the league. Relegation is a certainty not a probability unless he gets rid of the 3 stooges.
Watched Abbot hide in the dugout at the end of the match, Collins wander into the middle of the pitch to avoid the dogs abuse he would’ve got had he walked down the touch line.
The owners have to scrap this ridiculous coaching set up, get rid and bring someone in who has a clue what they’re doing. You can’t stand there with your mouth shut and arms behind your back and hope the players can read your mind.Nick_W_, Idlebantam, Telesto and 4 others like this. -

The fact that it took Collins until the 92nd minute to visibly gee his team up says it all.
Drury and Abbo no where to be seen.
Collins is trying to coach the first team like its the youngsters-where you aren't suppose to get animated on the touchline to protect the youngsters from overt open criticism.
But feck me today was a total shambles and a real set back for this club.
The players are NOT playing for him whatsoever and the cynic in me feels that's to get him sacked and to bring someone in who they can respect.
Akpan couldn't be arsed today and threw his bib back when subbed. Would be happy never to see that excuse of a footballer in a city shirt ever again.

As a club we have lost our identity. We dont believe anymore. I’ll go because me and my lad have a good laugh win lose or draw. But as @Hulmebantam said, i’ve lost the connect with the club, the final straw being the resignation of James Mason. When he left, the last connection had gone. I’m going to Fleetwood but i’m not even sure why because a win will not change the way i feel.

It’s not like me but I can’t be arsed reading thru’ all the comments. I’ve come away today wondering what makes me come back each week year after year. It was absolutely dire. It’s clear the coach needs replacing but I just can’t see the way forward. We have a narcissistic egomaniac making all the decisions. He thinks he knows better than anyone. Unless Rupp comes back and reins this clown in to protect his investment, I don’t know where we go. I have only ever boycotted matches once and that was to help the get rid of Docherty which was my unhappiest time as a supporter. I found that really difficult. At the moment I feel as low as I did then. I would happily boycott the rest of this season to get rid of this joke of an owner. I hope I come around but Rahic is destroying my love for this club.

I am dismayed to hear this. One or two underperforming may be, but the whole lot. This is embarrassing.A pattern has developed which is as far away from what is needed as can possibly be. How can we be stale with so many new faces? Have to agree, there is no way back whatever the final result..Time to eat humble pie and sack the whole Coaching set up.
