After the victory against Burton I’m hoping that MC keeps going with the 442 formation and forgets about 3 at the back.

Fingers crossed we can build on this victory and keep pushing forward into the season.

Great chance to get confidence in eachother.
Hopefully the crowd can give the same backing they got through the bad times tonight

He would be crazy to change to another system after tonight. It was far from perfect but the team looked much improved tonight.

We need some stability and consistency not more upheaval.

If he is going to continue to play 442 he needs to bring a physical centre forward in who can hold the ball up. With that system you are virtually conceding midfield to teams who pack out the team with midfield players so a proper centre forward is needed not only get on crosses created by two winger but also to hold the ball up for the midfield

I was saying the same thing tonight on the way home. We need some physicality up front to help Doyle out and also to hold the ball up and bring the midfielders in to play. We lack height in the team especially in midfield and up front where we just can't compete in the air and the ball keeps coming back at us. We struggle to defend corners and lack a threat at ours so I would like to see us bring in a target man to partner Doyle and a tall hard sod for centre midfield.

I said this on the match thread. I thought Bruenker deserved 20 minutes last night. I know everyone will say he is not good enough but our strikers never won a header against their CBs last night and frankly were bullied by them. It might have given Doyle a bit more space to do his thing.

    I'm going for a City 2 - 1 Wycombe result.

Just a shame we're not playing Oxford ! - Their confidence must be in pieces ?

As it was pointed out to Wright earlier this week, surely a leader should be getting the best out of his team mates on the pitch. He shouldn’t be speaking to the local press a couple of days later saying they had let fans down and would try to put it right in the next game.

The skipper must be able to get the best from his team DURING the game, not after it has finished. I noticed again, last night, that when we started to get put under pressure and we were just hitting it high and long to Doyle, there was no leadership. Wright never once tried to get his team mates (or even the crowd) up for the battle. No motivational hand gestures or clapping the players on. He just looked like all the other players on the park. Not exactly leading...!

I think a better team than Burton would have passed their way through our midfield with the team we had out in 442 on Tuesday. Additionally, not only do I think we need a bit more height or physical presence up front to get the best out of playing 2 wide men but also I don't think it's the best use of Payne to have him stuck out on the wing.

As for playing 4 at the back instead of 3, we haven't ended up with 6 CB's on the books in McGowan, O'Connor, NKP, Kilgallon, Isherwood and Mellor (who admittedly can play at RB) by accident. We've recruited with the intention of playing 3 at the back becase we don't need that many CB's if we're going to regularly play with a flat back 4 so I think that we can expect our longterm "default" line-up to be with 3 at the back with 4 being the exception. The only way I see this philosophy being ditched is if we ship Kilgallon out on loan before the end of the month.

Apart from seeing a tweet which suggests that they lined up with a front 3 last night I know nothing about Wycombe. On paper it would seem that they're the weakest team we've come up against in the league so far so I'd probably go with the same team but switch to a diamond in midfield to allow Payne to play more centrally.

What do I think Collins will do? It's tricky to guess but I'll go for starting with 343 with Riley coming in for Miller and if it doesn't work then we'll switch to a back 4 at half time.

I think the set up yesterday was more like the formation Parky and Stuart used with an out and out winger who thank goodness at last was played on the right. And the other cuttting in to make a three. I don’t think Collins as any desire to play a big man up front but without someone to win headers and more importantly hold and shield the ball up this system won’t work properly

If he's not good enough, he's not good enough. Being tall is not an attribute otherwise Kevin Francis would have been knocking in hat tricks for fun on a world stage.

If we need height them address that with someone who is good enough. If we haven't got that then address that with the style of play with players who are good enough.

If we haven't got that then sack Abbott and the rest of the transfer committee (and Rahic, if only) who have clearly got it massively wrong.
