Where have I said I don’t want my club to modernise? Of course I would love to see our club get state of the art facilities and coaching, who wouldn’t want to see the standard of football they watch improved. But you’re showing a distinct lack of understanding outside of the premier league, as your league 2 Peterborough comment yesterday proved. These facilities cost millions that these clubs simply don’t have and even if we did get them out best youth players would still be plucked for very little with the change in rules around category 1 academy’s signing players for peanuts now. Most managers/coaches in the EFL have spent time in the top flight either as a coach or player so I’m sure they’re aware of how the best training is done. However you have to take into account that players lower down just aren’t good enough, if you give a prime Wayne Rooney and a Prime Eoin Doyle the same training they’d still have had similar careers to what they had as all professionals train all week just because some don’t do it in fancy buildings doesn’t mean they don’t use similar techniques. What’s the point in a league 2 team trying to play like Man City only to keep losing the ball and conceding, it’s competitive sport you play to your teams strengths and play to win football would be dull if it was all played the same way. As it often is in lower leagues in other countries on the continent, which is why the championship is the 6th most watched league in Europe despite being the second tier. Not bad for backward facilities.

Anyway this is about next season taking place and keeping clubs in business something you’ve constantly avoided on here, so I’ll go ahead and presume you’re happy for clubs to go under as long as Man United can sign another average player from China

 

Based on they were hand to mouth every year and relied on some cup success recoup the deficit and we were in trouble at one point with talk of Odsal etc..

 

The vote to finish was unanimous ie 24-0. It was the vote not to relegate that was 20-4 with us P Vale, FGR and Grimsby being the four.

 

Think Rileys might be up too, I wonder if that budget also included Doyle and Scannel which were very large sums.

We voted for the season to end, we wouldn’t have won the vote but it indicates we weren’t bothered about going for promotion nor Port Vale. Finance stability obviously has to come first, but had Rupp offered to offset any losses incurred by finishing the season out vote would have been different. And that’s all it is a vote, as far as I’m aware the EFL haven’t made anything official yet. But we’ve well and truly shown our intentions and as usual it is to tread water.

I have heard no moaning from anyone at city. I think Ryan Sparks is doing a good job as spokesman for the club who have been as positive as it’s possible to be under the circumstances

 

Seems there is only you making an issue of the Director of Comunication doing exactly that.

You're spot on Fordy. They say one thing and do another, weak as water, I suggested this in another post, Greg Clarke is a waste of space. Looks like just Barrow promoted to replace Bury.
Add in the fact that if L1 stops like L2 then Bolton escape again, more lives than a cat!
There will be hell on from lower leagues but looks like BPA will survive.

 

On the plus side, at least if we go pop and out of existence you can find something else to moan/hate about, every cloud......

Not been on here much but some things never change (other than 10+ adds jumping all over the place, poor experience), I've read a few threads and you've contradicted yourself a few times, pick and choose what ya like when ya like and enjoy

 

I don't think so, I believe they have just been diligent. They got Planning Consent to increase capacity last year I think and took the decision to do the work when they were in a good position in the NL this time. As their season progressed and league position looked promising they started talking to EFL on such as floodlighting levels, the replacement of the pitch and so on. I believe they have just made sure they can qualify to go up on ground standards if the situation arises. Well done them.
