A very fine possibly legal point but if the play offs take place that finishes the season behind closed doors doesn't it.

So now it just seems they want to stop legal action. Barrow promoted as in automatic spot then no relegation from div 2 and 1.
I'll be extremely disappointed if Bolton are not relegated.
I laugh at the Scotland league for quality but at least they made the right decision and sick to it even if it means Hearts won't like it. Tough!

Play offs for leagues one and two you mean? If they do it still doesn’t effect the relegation zone?

I suspect that the various leagues are very aware of the legal minefield involved in relegating any club that has not finished the season in the relegation zone. If unfinished leagues decide not to relegate anybody, then the next logical step is not to promote anybody.

If the season doesn't finish then it is my belief that, legally, it is far easier to invoke force majeure or contract frustration and go down the route of abandoning the season, rather than 'artificially' promoting and relegating clubs, based on their positions at the point the season was ended.

So, in my opinion, I would say it should be a case of completing the season, whenever that may be or saying "Let's call the whole thing off".

Didn't take that view in Scotland. Relegation and promotion is happening. Same in France.

Looks like we might have relegation after all. Efl reject the no relegation proposal

The Scottish 'decision' is on the verge of falling apart as affected clubs have threatened legal action.

No it's not mate and it looks like promotion and relegation is happening in the EFL

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52758193

Maybe, hope for Harrogate after all @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler

And who knows Bradford could be in the playoffs if teams currently in the play offs don't want to play.

I understand that Falkirk, with the support of others, are to attempt to get the reconstruction of the leagues back on the table, in an attempt to stop Hearts relegation and allow their own promotion to take place. The proposal, which is expected to be released in the next few days, would presumably cascade downwards to the benefit of other clubs.

Personally, I think it will fail to get enough support. I also think that, due to a lack of money in the Scottish game, Partick Thistle won't go through with their threatened legal action; it also seems that Hearts have shelved their threatened action.

However, their is a lot more money at stake in England, and the EFL may not find it quite as easy to relegate clubs (unless the season is completed).

Went past their ground yesterday, significant construction works still ongoing. By the way Fordy, contrary to your post weeks ago I do not have some sort of love for Harrogate. They are my nearest club, with York second but my one and only love is BCFC and has been for 65 years. I just take an interest in local life here in Wetherby and a number of people I know follow the team. The only contact I have had was about 5 years ago when they asked me who we used for summer pitch work.

As @Fordy117@Fordy117 says, it will be criminal if Bolton are allowed to stay up. Absolute piss take and sets an example that a so called "big club" can just do whatever they like and not be punished for it. Kick Swindon out of Div 2, and replace them with Bolton.

    So name names?

Let’s try and anticipate the list. I seem to recall that the following have been reported to be vulnerable:
    • Swindon
    • Macclesfield
    • Bolton
    • Oldham
    • Southend
    • Coventry
    • Tranmere
    Struggling after that.
