You're correct. Sky are the problem now. That 750m they're still wanting if the season doesn't end.

That's 750m that will cover losses from people stopping sky sports and more some!

How they're agenda driving at this moment makes me sick.

If Sky, IFollow and others think fans will be paying extra to watch behind closed door games then they're in for a shock. £10 here, £20 per game there, it's not going to work.

I just don't see next season happening at all!

Not just sky but a lot of foreign tv companies pay a lot for premier league football packages and I think the overseas tv rights are worth more in some cases to the premier league

All this is why the PL has to continue. The contract can't be broken.

However, Sky could lead the way but they won't. They will rather have Garry Neville on every day taking nonsense to try cover up the real reasons and problem which is Sky TV.

With SKY it's not just football though , all their subscription channels will suffer , i pay £81 per month currently , i'm on furlough , many will be in a worse position than i am . When people can't afford this anymore this will drop their revenue even more , the can't make the rest pay more to cover the shortfall because it would compound the problem .

It won't happen but Sky should reduce the price of all their packages or they could have that many cancellations it wouldn't be worth it
During a recession selling at a reduced price is better than selling nothing at all

I hope it means they have to rethink their whole pricing strategy. How come Netflix offer all of what it does with no adverts for less than a tenner a month and sky charge 100 a month if you want all sports and movies?

Steve Parish is spot on with his statement this morning on why the premier league should finish.

Think it's £99m for relegated PL teams now but one of my main gripes about sky is that they show live games at the same time as real fans are either on their way to ,at or on their way home from watching their local teams ...overall Sky do a great job for the sofa brigade but when I watch a tv game I don't switch on until 2 mins before KO and i'm likely to find something else to do as soon as the game is over..

FA have announced the 8th of August for the cup final.

Amazing they cancel their games but announce the cup final date.

I was reading an article last night that was saying how any venues used for behind closed doors games will be more sterilised and safe than any other work places that the general public will be returning to over the coming weeks.

The same premier league clubs are leaking crap to the press day in day out and the latest leak this afternoon about accepting neutral venues if relegation is scrapped just goes to show that they aren’t concerned about health or sporting integrity at all. Despite claiming that’s the case, what they’re really bothered about is using a global pandemic to their advantage to avoid relegation.

Spain are not a few weeks ahead of us. Italy are furthest ahead at around two weeks. Spain are more like one week ahead of us, although our decline is a little slower (which could be due to the care home crisis but that's not really a nationwide infection rate/risk issue since they do not mix much in the wider community. Painful as it has been, it might blow itself out and allow the national trend to improve again).

    https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/daily-covid-deaths-3-day-average

Testing results are not to be trusted for trends. There's much variance in quantity and cohort tested in national testing regimes, and they have been expanding too - but picking up no more new infections from many more tests in recent weeks. That means the new infections data peaks after the real peak in new infections in the community. Death rates give a better handle on real infection trends but 5 weeks later than we'd like. If deaths are down 75% now, that suggests real new infections had fallen 75% 5 weeks ago (since infection generally precedes death by 4-6 weeks) and so daily new infections could be under 10% or even 5% of their peak now.

Whilst arguments may rage about the mortality rate, there is much less virus out there at the moment to catch than in early March when we were still operating fairly normally. I don't see why we can't let young and healthy people out into that much lower risk as very few young and healthy people have died and deaths of older and compromised people have greatly abated and everybody is much more cautious now so it should not explode again. That's what has been found in other countries so far. New infections have actually continued down after 1st stage relaxations in a few countries, like Austria. Balance that against the health costs of staying in lockdown that are huge, but little discussed, and we really need to open up some commerce where old and compromised are less exposed.

This is spot on. You need to take a long hard look at yourself if deep down you only want it cancelled to halt Liverpool or Leeds success and you’re just using health and a global pandemic as an excuse / opportunity.

Not.. it's just that a lot of people have sad agendas.

Talk isn't about health now why football shouldn't restart.
