Protecting the NHS was the focus when it would have been overwhelmed without controls being put in place.

I'm not sure it won't work. They might need to get a bit harsher in continual hotspots but I'm okay with them leaving an element of common sense. I know that it isnt actually that common but I don't particularly want to be controlled by the government.

4 rounds of the league cup in September. Efl trophy starts too early on. If we are serious we need most of our bodies in soon to let them gel
    Sounds like black mirror
only the privileged can do what they want. The rest get shamed.

That's the conundrum for the footballing authorities. Social distancing of say a metre and wearing a mask as are required in shops but without singing and chanting and crowd capacity restricted to say 25%; or much greater social distancing say 4 or 5 metres but with no restrictions on singing and shouting and crowd capacity restricted to a couple of thousand. Neither options are particularly appealing to me.

Until a vaccine or a treatment become widely available, most of us will have to get used to iFollow

ps I bet the refs association are in favour of the first option! ;)

    I
I've already decided not to do anything until I can do it properly again, however long that might be. To be honest the trip to VP in recent times has been a trial anyway given the quality on offer, and there's little to suggest to me that next season will be any different.

If they force shops to enforce the mask rules they will first need to issue an official document to everyone that is exempt. Currently there isn’t such a document. Without it shops can not enforce it.

I can not see the government going down the shops having to enforce it, a lot of shops will just refuse with the threat of just closing. Imagine if all the large retailers just said they were not playing ball and would rather close.

It's the government fault as they could have had this all in place when the supermarkets stayed open in lockdown with everything else shut.

Now the supermarkets are just giving Boris the fingers...Boris got played.

Theres no need to enforce the masks strictly. 90% compliance is more than enough for what is a marginal differnce maker in a population with low spread anyway.

It was never meant to be 100% complied with. Just another marginal gain.

They can absolutely get knotted on that one.

The stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Do they understand rows? Do they understand that the row in front of you has their back to you, and the issue is face-to-face contact?

People are being stupid. This government is being stupid, and the footballing authorities are being stupid.

Let sense prevail. Open the grounds, one seat between each group/family, masks if necessary, hand sanitisers dotted around the ground, concourses closed at half time, and LET'S GET ON WITH IT.

Not a hope. The political fall out from that type of relaxation when the rest of the world is tightening up makes basically impossible.

We just need to be brave and get on with it.

ALL metrics suggest we are no longer dealing with a virus of the same severity we were dealing with in the Winter.

The primary focus has to be on the safest possible scenarios and situations. Here's the 'science'.

    - Is it outdoors? - Yes
    - Can you minimise face to face contact? - Yes
    - Can you provide hand sanitiser? - Yes
    - Can you potentially monitor whether infected individuals are entering the premises? - Yes
    - Can you potentially employ a face covering? - Yes
    - Can you provide hot, running water - this is a real challenge for Bradford City

But seriously, these factors make football grounds one of the absolute safest settings available. Far safer than pubs, which people are attending EN MASSE, far safer than supermarkets, which people are attending EN MASSE, far safer than going to a friend's house, which people are definitely still doing, and without taking a single extraordinary measure those other places aren't already taking.

With the deadliness of the virus here in the UK at a low, and with international travel suspended and largely preventing the virus being imported, I really don't see what the issue is with outdoor, open air stadiums.

I partly agree but there's no benefit politically to being brave. The people who are getting the credit are the countries who are being overly cautious (New Zealand) rather than the countries who are just getting on with it (America/Sweden) until that focus changes there will be no major chances being taken.

I'm not sure about the safety to be honest. You're sat with the people around you for a prolonged period which makes it different to the supermarket and in the well managed pubs at least the distancing is better than it could hope to be in a stadium. However the main point is that it won't occur in the short term because the fall out is political suicide until the outlook of the media/population changes.

I agree mate its not going to happen.

Next week the fixtures come out and none of us know if we will be allowed to attend this year and under what conditions.

For once this isn't Bradford City's fault in my mind but the governments. Can we be sure the government won't change the rules, pull the plug when it suits them? It's difficult for fans to spend their hand earned money on a season ticket this season.

Ifollow doesn't interest me at all. Div 2 football with no fans doesn't work for me.

The government need to stop with this dancing about...

While I see your point, I don't see how it's political suicide.

People in other countries can't vote, so their opinions aren't particularly relevant, and while people will undoubtedly criticise the government for being gung-ho, people are going to criticise them anyway - the difference is by being pointlessly cautious over a virus that doesn't look particularly lethal at the moment, the nation will be in a slump, a malaise, and a worse predicament than by being brave and taking action that increases morale.

Those that don't want to go or are vulnerable can opt out.

Those that are at minimum risk, ie, younger people, let's go.

They're expected to work, soon they'll be expected to go to school, so let's go. You can't tell people it's safe to work and study but not sit for 90 minutes outdoors.

What are we trying to achieve though?

    The infection rate lowered?
    Death rate?

Think we all have to accept the infection will be around until a vaccine is found.
