The resolution of sport will be a long way down the priority ladder.

    Oh it won't be.

Top sporting companies, TV, Bookies, Elite sports people - these bring far too much money into the economy.

Plus mental health issues which sport helps ease.

I'm not suggesting sport will not resume for18 months, playing games behind closed doors to finish this current season then allow the governing bodies of all sports time to give thought to when sport can be restarted with the blessing of the Government.
I would think when an anti virus is developed the injections would be given to the most vulnerable, maybe until that time such as myself and people with underlying health conditions will be advised not to get involved with mass gatherings if adhering to that will potentially keep me safe then it's a no brainer IPTV it is then.

All a chairman can do is 1- Not interfere with the playing side, something Rahic was guilty of but Rupp is not. 2- Give the club the best budget possible. Rupp gave Bowyer a very good budget last summer but Bowyer didn’t use it wisely . The budget was given without any guarantee that McBurnie would be sold. I’m amazed that people like your good self want Rupp out when he has the resources to get us out of this mess. Don’t forget Lawn and Rhodes relied on amazing cup runs but we still lived hand to mouth at times and we’ve had no cup run for 5 years. If some major benefactor was waiting in the wings then fine but I suspect there is no queue down Manningham Lane to buy the club.

Option 3- Not take your eye off the ball in the first place and then use a substantial windfall to cover the mess. Imagine if we received £2-3M in league 1 with the club already in good financial health. Top 3 budgets for years to come giving us several cracks to reach the Championship. Instead our main owner falls asleep at the wheel, we get relegated and discover we’re millions in debt to boot. Rupp and his imaginary investment can F off.

Getting back on topic, one option could be to call the season off (if circumstances dictate) but start the next one with the current league standings. So City would still be 4 points from 7th, Stevenage 10 points from 23th etc etc. Not sure what can be done with the games in hand though. Perhaps they could take the average points per game for each team to work out what the final league table for this season would look like and take it from there. It’ll mean that promotion and relegation is still determined by what clubs do the pitch which is the fairest way to go about it.

No mate, that's far too complicated.

Might as well just do the average point per game to end the season if it's so impossible to finish. I mean so hard to fit 9 games in the future.

I said it a couple of weeks ago. The simplest approach is to void the season and I think the chances of it are increasing.

The next couple of weeks seem critical in terms of shaping how long the battle against covid will take and how restrictive it will be.

I don’t like the idea of promoting/relegating teams when so much can change in the 10 or so games that are left. Equally, I’m not a fan of completely writing off a season in which the majority has been competed so my suggestion is a compromise that would account for this season whilst also giving clubs the power to determine their fate.

Tbh, I’m sure we’re ever going to find a method that is 100% fair. Wouldn’t actually mind it if everything was delayed and we end up having a winter pre season instead of a summer one. Don’t know why that doesn’t happen anyway, Coronavirus or not. Much better to play and watch football in the summer than in the middle of December where games inevitably get postponed.

Should we close your business or where you work and everyone go homeless then?

They has to be light at the end of the tunnel. It's all grim at the moment but we have to hope.

I'm not interested in going to games but I want our players to have a career and our club to still be here.

2-6 weeks of this fine but we need to get back to some normality of s degree soon.

The over 70's will have to get use to seeing games on tv no matter what anyway for the next 12-18 months.

I worry for people that can't figure out solutions and quit.

It’s not only over 70s is it although I know they are the majority. If we come out of this to soon the outbreak could flair again.

My business has nothing to do with it. Football is an irrelevance right now. It’ll restart when its safe to do so. As long as rules around social distancing are in place and freedom of movement is specific to key response roles, there’ll be no football. If we’re talking about 3-4 months at least, I don’t see any way of this season being finished. It doesn’t matter how ‘determined’ the footballing bodies are. And if it can’t finish, the only option they’ll have is to void the season.

In the interest of fairness whenever it restarts the present one has to finish first

It's because you brain is tuned to dates.

I understand that the next season normally starts in Aug/September but these can be moved.

End if we end the season in December and start the new one in Jan. What would it matter? Seriously- why would it?

Which is true. We don't know yet mate.

This is why talking of ending something to think of next season is just plan stupid in my eyes.

What happens if next season starts and this virus comes back. Do we end the season? Need to finish this one then worry how next season take place & rules we can put in place with this virus.

Contracts, impact to international calendars and tournaments, contention with other sports who might decide to litigate their objections. The impacts would take years to undo. Not saying it can’t be done, but it’d have a multi year impact.

And @Park bantam@Park bantam i don’t disagree, but I’m not sure ‘fairness’ will come into it. All depends on when they can restart with games. I don’t think anyone WANTS to see the season voided, but there may be no practical alternative

Ok but if he does Fu.. off as you so eloquently put it, who funds the shortfall. He does have a duty to stay on and repair the damage. Agree that he was negligent during Rahic disaster.

    I
I'm a caring person deep down but I hate losing, giving up and not getting solutions to problems.

We all need to stay at home, stay two metres away from people - great but let's not act like the world is ending.
