That's just the typical fear rather than reality. I'm frequently in the centre, day and evening. Not been attacked once, never felt threatened. I'm talking about decades not just the last few weeks. Of course it can happen but probably the same can be said of any large city centre. Leeds being NO exception. I'd like to know which rough area of Leeds he lives in that's so much better than the bad areas of Bradford. I've worked in many areas of Leeds. I know full well what they are like. They certainly are no better than the worst areas of Bradford. I don't think there's anything in it.

Do you know which areas are included in the figures for “Keighley” and “Haworth?”

“Haworth” seems way too high in comparison with Keighley when considering Haworth itself is a village, a fraction of the size of Keighley. I would guess that the percentage for Keighley should be much higher than Haworth.

Is there not a high percentage in Bingley too?

Unless l have missed something, then the source of the figures is not disclosed. I assume it is Season Tickets/Flexis. Maybe Keighley folk are worried about paying up front and would rather pay by cash match by match?;)

Maybe he needs to take a trip to the much safer London. You know, where all those stabbings are being reported. He'll feel much safer there.

It might not fit your agenda but that's what he thinks. And just in case you think he's a shrinking violet, he's 6 feet 4 and an ex rugby league prop.

Likewise, worked in both cities. Exactly the same in my view. Not once have I felt unsafe in either city tbh, and I have worked in the deprived areas. What I don’t understand is Bradfordians who constantly diss this city of ours. I have always been proud of my city. Yes it has its problems, not perfect. Nevertheless it has suffered through massive lack of investment; we are doing well now in manufacturing sector not because they have received hand outs, but because are determined to do well and not allow ourselves to be defined how others see us. I am glad it is a young city, it will need all that energy and enthusiasm.

Is his fear rational or irrational?

Really don't know, but I don't see anything scary in Bradford centre. There are surrounding I don't want to go, but that's true of all major cities. Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London...

I think some criticisms in this thread aren't fact-based, but experiential. The roads not being safe IS fact based, hence streerside. That there is no industry or appetite for investment is definitely not a fact, and evidence to the contrary is readily available.

But anyway, what we really need now is some information on Rupp's plans. One more year? Two? Five? Or are we sold at the first reasonable opportunity?

We remain customers, and many apparently considering not making a repeat purchase - time for the major shareholder to clarify his and the club's stance, I think. We need to know where we stand, the consequences of people not renewing or whatever, and the short to medium term plan beyond Bowyer's Grayson-esque contract.

When I moved to Keighley back in the 70s the majority of football fans followed Leeds and Burnley not many City fans about at the time. We did form a supporters club above the old Black Horse attending most games home and away. The support as grown in the town with fans from the outlying districts such as Oakworth .An interesting point from Glens list is that a majority of fans are from outlying districts.
I would dearly like new owners in ideally with a connection and passion for our club , unfortunately I can’t see this happening.

Just a last word on this. At Burley in Wharfedale station there are many trains to Leeds and some to Bradford. The trains to Leeds are packed in the rush hour and pretty full at other times. On the trains to Bradford you can usually have most of a carriage to yourself. There are no direct buses whatsoever from Ilkley, Burley, Menston or Otley to Bradford. Don't you think this tells its own story?

I have lived out of Bradford now for two years however unlike my wife and other members of my family I still think of it home..
However the city needs a clean up anybody entering from any of the main arteries into the city comment about how scruffy it looks. This is not a comment about immigration it’s about Bradfordians it cost nothing to be proud of your home and street and it would really improve the city’s image

Rubbish, haven't PwC just brought 250 jobs? I might be wrong but I know they've just opened a new office. There is potential for Bradford..

It's anecdotal, I would assume most from Burley go to Leeds as they feel more of an affinity with Leeds.

Yeadon, Guiseley, I imagine the story would be the same there too - but they're all LS postcodes anyway.

I'd be more concerned if Shipley trains to Bradford were deserted, but that's not the case.

If that is necessary, however I was thinking more along the lines of diverting alongside Leeds road. It's not like it's a historical building worth preserving and relocating the train station/interchange would leave a big swathe if land to be redeveloped, which could incorporate a new court house etc.
I only wish they would listen to the people that have a vested interest, I don't live in Bradford I moved away over 20 years ago when I met my wife but I still call it my home and will always do so. Bradford needs a shot in the arm, not a lethal injection.

That's one of the things that frustrates me the most, the council should be a lot stricter with regards shopping frontage and street cleaning. Make all stores have a more uniform frontage with a bit of style and class, make it more appealing and make sure the main arteries into the city are clean and tidy, even if they have to start penalising shop owners for not doing it.

That's just made me realise, kill two birds with one stone. All that land that would need redeveloping would be perfect for a city centre sporting village.

Totally agree, if there is one thing that makes me turn into a fascist it is the rubbish that is left on the streets, the way shops and others businesses are allowed to just leave their shops looking scruffy and unclean. When I think back to my youth, I never saw rubbish on the streets, it was a matter of civic pride in keeping the streets clean. Obviously there is more disposable rubbish around these days, but cleaning up our city should be a priority.

Ilkley, Burley and Menston are in Bradford.
