Bradford undoubtedly lags massively behind Leeds.

But there are lots of initiatives out there to help redress the balance. The high cost of Leeds and our proximity to Leeds and Manchester is our big opportunity.

Key to this is getting the Bradford onto the Nothern Powerhouse rail link.

Everybody should pledge their support > here

And Bradford was rated the best place in the UK for Businesses to start up by Barclays. See report

    A combination of;
    1. Low rates
    2. Low rent
    3. Low wages
    4. A young workforce
    5. Large population
Have you tried parking in Leeds? £22 in The Light...

Smart companies are waking up to this. PwC has announced that they are moving to Bradford and taking staff from Leeds bring in 225 jobs. See T & A story

This leads to more spending in shops, bars and boosts the local economy. Salford Quays experienced a massive boom when the media centre opened.

Dave Baldwin was at the MIPIM conference in Cannes last week as part of the Bradford Economic Partnership to promote Bradford is the UK destination of choice for businesses looking to operate in the UK.

Lots of great work is being done.

Bring in the trains and it will light the touch paper to boom town Bradford IMO.

Oops. Sorry for the positivity :)

Excellent point. Can we move all the Man City v Man United v Liverpool guff to general football please? Most of it is garbage and even more of it is stuff that Bradford City fans don’t give a monkeys about. Our own club is dying on its arse and that’s more than enough to keep us occupied

Train line gradients are much more interesting than Manure & Mancy C.

Likewise, worked in both cities. Exactly the same in my view. Not once have I felt unsafe in either city tbh, and I have worked in the deprived areas. What I don’t understand is Bradfordians who constantly diss this city of ours. I have always been proud of my city. Yes it has its problems, not perfect. Nevertheless it has suffered through massive lack of investment; we are doing well now in manufacturing sector not because they have received hand outs, but because are determined to do well and not allow ourselves to be defined how others see us. I am glad it is a young city, it will need all that energy and enthusiasm.

Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley. All had relatively successful clubs and not the most salubrious of towns.

Heard the last interview he did a couple of weeks ago. Sound chap, young and with a lot of drive, but with a good dose of his grandad's realism.

That's what the Venkys did, two years ago. Stood back and just watched the progress made by local based management.

And me, I’m not buying attending Bradford v Peterborough as a random football fan because of ‘lively fans’.

Sounds like he didn’t want to give too much away.

I was leas to believe that this was a bradford city site not a Manchester or liverpòol site.
if people wish to read about these teams why not use one of the many sites they have available

Done. If anyone wants to continue the Manchester/Liverpool rivalry discussion, please do that on that relevant thread in 'General Football'.

I've left the railway stuff here, for the time being, as it was tied in with the regeneration of Bradford City centre and the potential benefits to the Football Club. However, if anyone wants to have a protracted discussion about HS3, the Northern Powerhouse and railways in Bradford, please can they start a thread under 'General Chat'.

That's just the typical fear rather than reality. I'm frequently in the centre, day and evening. Not been attacked once, never felt threatened. I'm talking about decades not just the last few weeks. Of course it can happen but probably the same can be said of any large city centre. Leeds being NO exception. I'd like to know which rough area of Leeds he lives in that's so much better than the bad areas of Bradford. I've worked in many areas of Leeds. I know full well what they are like. They certainly are no better than the worst areas of Bradford. I don't think there's anything in it.
