Coventry City were the Bantams until Jimmy Hill changed their kit and nickname.

 

And The Citizens according to Wiki but I've never heard us referred to as that. I don't use Bantams as it is a chicken not a football team

 

Do The Stans actually have any fans ? Surely most of the original ones are dead and no-one in their right mind (under 50) would actually choose to support them.

 

We have never been called the citizens. Somebody has been partying about with wiki.

Like I said, Wikipedia think we have for some reason. It's still on there now and has been for a few years. I've never seen it anywhere else but normally mistakes on wiki are amended by users quite quickly so perhaps it's very historic, ie predates you and Bronco, if that's possible

 

OK OK I got it the first time .

 

Surely the fact their official name is no longer Bradford AFC does change that though

To mates and family, I’d say “off to see City” but, like others have said, if chatting football to other general footy fans I’d say I’m a Bradford fan.

Avenue have been a non entity since I started watching us in ‘93 so with us having been the only league team in the city, its never been something I’ve worried too much about.

If we've lost, all sorts of horrible things. Especially if I've had a few.

 

Funny as I just say I am off to City to the missus/family. Never say Bradford City. But when asked by others I do say Bradford City

 

I don't think you need to be over the national pension age to know that football clubs' names are not always as simple as the town where they play. If you ask someone which team they support and they answer Sheffield, Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge, Nottingham or Glasgow, I think that they have not answered the question. I wouldn't expect supporters of Arsenal, Chelsea or QPR to answer "London".

Facing facts, City is only 2 tiers above BPA. ExTREMEly unlikely, I know, but it is technically and mathematically possible that City and Avenue could play in the same league next season. Then what?

BTW: I can't take to "The Bantams". Why call a team after lightweight chickens?

 

Not the best anology comparing Bradford City and Park Avenue with any of the above as every team you mention. Even the smaller examples of Cambridge and Oxford I'd exepct their fans to say Oxford or Cambridge. Even the few number of BPA fans that i know say they support Park Ave, not once have they ever said they support Bradford. Even on shows like quest we get mentioned as Bradford more often than Bradford City.
