I refer to BPA as Avenue
I refer to City as City
Outside of my City, if I'm asked who I support I just say Bradford.
Everyone knows who I mean.
Then I add the disclaimer "Yes, I know we're crap but someone's got to support them" haha

The club has always been referred to as 'Avenue'. In 1966 Bradford introduced its own cartoon mascot in response to the 'City Gent' of Bradford City at Valley Parade. 'Avenue 'Arry' is a cartoon of a supporter with hat and scarf waving a rattle. Avenue did not use the character to the same extent as Bradford City exploited the 'City Gent' but it has been revived by the reformed club.
In the late 1980s a Bradford City supporters' publication 'Bernard of the Bantams' introduced a cartoon figure 'Boring Stan the Avenue Fan' featuring an old Bradford supporter suffering a mid-life crisis. Bradford City supporters have contemptuously referred to followers of the reformed Bradford Park Avenue club as 'Stans' but the nickname has not been adopted by the club itself.RCarol, 1975citygent, Johnny Yen and 2 others like this. -

When there were 2 teams from Bradford in the football league, Bradford City was called "Bradford City". Bradford PA was called "Bradford". Bradford City is still in the football league, Bradford is not.
We, the supporters, are the Bradford boys because we come from Bradford. This is our home. But our team is called Bradford City.
Somebody at work in Belgium told me he was a supporter of "United". I asked, Colchester, Hartlepool, Cambridge, Leeds, Sheffield, West Ham? No, he replied shocked, Manchester of course. So if I said you supported just "Manchester," is that right?
So Mr Kiwomya and everyone else, we are not "Brafford", we are Bradford City or just known locally as "City".baggers, Jayteebee, Idlebantam and 1 other person like this. -

When City assumed their identity a few years later, Avenue felt obliged to add Park Avenue in brackets.
All the time they were in the Football League they were officially listed in fixtures, tables etc as Bradford.
They are know officially Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC
Bradford City should never be referred to as another former league club, its simply wrong.Bronco, Stafford Bantam, Kevin1954 and 1 other person like this. -

To the older generation we might not be 'Bradford', but nowadays we are Bradford.
I refer to us as Bradford.
Whenever 'City' is mentioned, people assume Manchester City.borderlescott, Rogered Tart and Tight1-0Victory like this. -

To mates and family, I’d say “off to see City” but, like others have said, if chatting football to other general footy fans I’d say I’m a Bradford fan.
Avenue have been a non entity since I started watching us in ‘93 so with us having been the only league team in the city, its never been something I’ve worried too much about.ahar964, WilsdenBantam and bantamlad92 like this. -
