There's nothing wrong with debating with people with different opinions, it just goes to s*it when one or two are more bothered about winding up and point scoring, even though it's clear they backed the wrong horse.

There is a lot of speculation about the significance of the McCall sacking in Edin Rahic's downfall and Simon Parker alluded to this as the first major failing of Rahic. As a big supporter of Stuart McCall I was equally minded to lay blame for his sacking on Rahic given it is not surprising that he should have been jealous of Stuart's stature at BCAFC.
However the decision to sack Stuart was not that of Rahic alone and Stefan Rupp told me last month that he had supported his dismissal. The reason he gave was that he and Stuart had failed to establish a constructive working relationship and he had concerns about Stuart's response when things had started going wrong. Whilst I have always been inclined to give Stuart McCall the benefit of the doubt, Stefan Rupp's comments were not unreasonable or unfair and I can understand how it would have left Stuart vulnerable at the point when things were going wrong not to have absolute confidence from his employer. Whilst this might give a different slant to the above discussion, the point that should be made is that Rahic's conduct was never going to get the best out of Stuart and again it is hardly surprising in this context that Stefan Rupp should have an unfavourable impression. Besides, Rahic was such a manipulative individual that Stuart was always going to be on a hiding to nothing. Parkinson and Grayson came to similar conclusions whereas Stuart stuck at the job. In the later stages of his employment I had major concerns about Stuart's health because he looked worn out and at the time I felt that his dismissal was in Stuart's best interests even if I felt that it was a loss to the club.

I refer one or two posters to the above. It would be a shame if some posters were no longer able to post on this thread, or even the forum.

It certainly seemed like things were getting on top of him by his uncharacteristic antics during the Wimbledon game, and you could tell by his post match interviews near the end as well.

That is interesting and maybe they looked a precious records where he doesn’t seem to be able to lift a side out of a slump.

Just what is your conclusion as to why we are where we are as a club, Edin has been instrumental in all that has gone on within our club for the last 29 months.

I think it shows that McCall was the easy fall guy.
it was obviously not the best working relationship, and so when results turned - it would be harder to turn round than if he had a good relationship with his chairman - and it was easier to dismiss McCall than it would be to question Edin, or why he isn't getting on with the manager.

I agree and posted as much at the time, his record whilst here was way above any Bradford City's fans expectations, and unfortunately the situation has not improved, on the contrary it's spiraled out of control even faster.
I have to question when players stop being Stuarts or any other managers players come to that when they believe right or wrongly they had to make a stand against Edin Rahic and his treatment of players and staff in general, it's cost both Stuart and Grayson their jobs and ultimately Edin Rachic his job.

Didn’t Stuart say he wished Stefan would get more involved and attend matches? Rahic will not have enhanced that relationship. I imagine Stefan will have and to some extent rightly so, have referred Stuart back to his Rahic concerning any complaints he had. If Stefan then chased it up with Rahic later, it will have been given the gloss.

It is correct to say that Stuart was struggling, and that it is expected that your boss would support you in such circumstances, but if it is your boss, then you are literally on your own.

I have never reported anyone for the abuse I get on here at times its water of a ducks back. Maybe it's the time to start doing. From whence did the word Herd become offensive

the problem with this @Dennis@Dennis is that there are some users who continuously 'abuse' others and don't seem to have any sort of come back. in fact, there have even been mods that have said detrimental and personal things to other users. as i've said previously, it's hard to moderate others when some can't moderate themselves.

It hasn't been all bad for all of the 29 months. I think it's the usual 'sweeping statement' to say it is. I doubt you think that Rahic got every decision wrong. Latterly, he did though

That's insulting in itself. I have a different opinion based on the facts at the time as opposed to adulation for McCall but my sanity is questioned

I know at least a third of City fans, who agreed with McCall going. If you think they are not "of sound mind", it says more about you been unable to accept and respect other people's views

I'm amazed anyone thinks McCall's sacking was wrong, but happy to listen and take on board that point of view

Amazing. Now a different point of view, based on a manager getting the same treatment plenty of others got is now a WUM post

Agree with this. Some seem to think I had something against Stuart, which is preposterous in itself. I was one of the few lone voices welcoming him back and was annoyed about him leaving the first time

But I said, with the wonderful benefit of hindsight - given the poor relationship with him and Rahic, he should have gone after the play-off final. Very little of any good came from the two of them basically sniping at each other, because they resented the other one not having respect for them. Stuart was simply not the same 'bouncy' individual, once we got a few injuries and we got into December.

It also has to be said that, certainly in England, Stuart still has to show that he can turn around a club when they have a serious bad spell

I wish him all the best, still my favourite player along with Robbie Blake, but I agreed with the decision

Ok apart from the pitch, ticketing, and taking the merchandise back in house just what has he done to improve the club, his interference into football matters have got us where we are, luckily with regards Julian coming in to advise he will get our sponsors back on board.
All in all he's made far more bad decisions during his time at the club than good ones, the man was a walking disaster, as many alluded to during the closed season where a few heard the goings on behind the scenes.

And you accuse me of "making sweeping statements" just how do you know at least a third of Bradford City fans agreed with McCall's sacking, did you go round the fans attending the game and do your exit poll, come on mate that is a sweeping statement .
