Vaughan and Doyle gone

It’s all gone into Rupps pocket.

 

They put a bid in for Grigg probably knowing full well he had no interest in dropping down a division.

 

So we stop have £3M + of debt hanging over our head and the several reports confirming that the money had gone towards wiping the debt were lies?

 

I’m actually beginning to almost feel sorry for Bowyer. If we are either skint of just not spending there’s not a lot he can do in the market. Having said that he’s got a large squad stuffed disproportionately with midfield dross snd that’s one of the major problems restricting recruitment.

 

I may be wrong and someone more well informed can tell me but are we in danger of breaching financial fair play or it’s equivalent in league two? I think it decreases what you can spend on wages in this league and our wage bill must be huge before these two departures

We still have highly paid players like Riley, Akpan, reeves etc on the books added to that Robinson, and then big earners like Doyle and Vaughan. Then there the loaners we’ve got and now the extra keeper. We have about 9 central midfielders at the club.

Has someone got their sums wrong in the summer and we’ve panicked? Our turnover must be really down with no tv money, less people gong to games etc?

I just think Rupp is a businessman, a businessman who doesn’t know football, so he’s trying to recoup his input as much as he can. It was stated that he was pretty much blindsided into investment by Rahic - a guy he didn’t even know! Look where that’s left him, running a club he’s not interested in with his burnt fingers.

 

A businessman doesn't do that.

It's amazing how we all think this man worth 150m was blind sided, didn't know what he getting into or what was happening -really! Ok then.

 

They won’t say that, they’ll say they were working up to wire and had bids in but just couldn’t get that deal over the line. They’ll add with great sincerity there was no value in the market and they weren’t prepared to mortgage the club’s future by paying way over the odds. They are probably scripting it now.

 

Didn't we have 4 accountants last season or something similar? Maybe now we have started to unearth more problems? Who knows

 

I prefer what I know to be the truth. Yes money was an issue as the pot is indeed empty as you say. Bowyer could have carried on with what he had. Unrest and unhappy players in the camp. Doyle did not want to be here, not due to finances but due to the manager and tactics. Simple as. As did Vaughan hence why I said last week both wanted out.

There was 2 possible outcomes. The one we see today. Or the squad staying together but managed with someone with different tactics to get the so called rebels onside.

To shift the manager would have taken funds the club does not have. To do it the way we have has released funds and allowed a few signings to come in. By doing so a happy camp returns and we go again.

Not ideal but without investment hardly anything more Rhodes could do. He reports to Rupp after all. Te club IMO would be better served if another bought into. But despite those thinking its an easy option it is not. Rhodes deserves praise not criticism.

 

So why’s he acting like he’s got no idea what he’s doing then?

 

I don't see how the squad would be happy.

I would be fuming. We have lost 2 good players and replaced them with a former City reserve.

Players will want promotion not a club that has no ambition.

Actually what do any of us know for certain about our finances. But we’ll have a pretty good idea this time tomorrow won’t we.

 

But there were at a crossroads. How can u sack a manager and have no funds to employ another? Believe me, Drury is not the answer. Senior players would have downed tools completely if this was the case.

 

Would it be cynical to suggest Vaughan got himself booked with 2 weeks of the transfer window to go because he would be a less attractive proposition to other clubs with a 2 match suspension pending........maybe not as he has attracted stupid bookings all season....answered my own question

 

I half think that the club would rather us think we had financial issues. That way, we sit back and blame edin, taking the heat off them, whilst in reality, their sheer ineptitude is the reason this window is disastrous.

 

No idea why everyone thinks we sold Vaughan and Doyle because we are 'skint'? Its because they didnt gel with bowyers tactics. Absolutely nothing to do with money we were going to use that money on grigg but he doesn't want to come down to this level.

Hopefully we can get some decent signings in.

Think the issue is that Rupp isn't digging into his pockets.

We will have funds to employ another manager. We have saved plenty on wages.

Ok, let's put it this way! If we don't sack Bowyer we will lose season ticket holders which will mean we will lose money.

 

That only holds up if we actually sign people. If not trying to sign Grigg just looks like a PR Stunt
