You would hope plans have been made beyond the coming season, it will be much easier increasing the price after a sucsessful season rather than a mediocre season.
Plans can be made for the future even if our owner doesn't see Bradford City as a long term project.

Surely not, not with all the extra franchise money we make from our large crowds....

The way we’ve planned for the future over recent years, I think they’ll be surprised by Sunday morning following our game on Saturday evening.

Our fans have paid more than what we pay now over the years. Fans can withstand a ticket increase without losing the fan base. Incremental increases would be good, and for the Board to inform fans in advance. That way nothing is a shock. I pay less now than I did 30 years ago. I paid on the gate £7 to stand on the kop. We only had a few season tickets in those days nobody bothered and just paid on a weekly basis. Not good for the club as they like to know how much they have in advance. Think we were paying £300+ in the PL.

we couldn’t fill the ground in the premiership even with less capacity. Compare our gates pre affordable football there is a big difference

Yes I know, but that in my view was down to general misery at our plight and fall out of the PL. I do not think it was down to price sensitivity. I think the low price initiative was generally seen as fans buying because it was low price. I think differently it was a lifting of spirits, of encouraging the fans to come back to VP and take part in the regeneration. I don’t think for minute it was just about low price.

good article this, but I can't get past the fact he uses the word 'stark' twice in one sentence.

You’re talking about 20 years ago or more Park. That’s literally living in the past. We can’t continue to base our thinking on outdated ideas or we’ll forever go nowhere. At one specific point in time, because fans had left in droves - BECAUSE THE CLUB WAS GOING BACKWARDS - we had to do something drastic to bring folks back. The idea then seems to have become entrenched that people will only turn up if it’s cheap. How’s it working out? Tickets are still cheap, attendances are down, we’ve been relegated and we’ve hit financial issues again. If we can’t re-examine our thinking now, when can we? Instead of focusing primarily on something that’s low cost, why not focus on something that’s high quality, that people will happily pay the goinng rate for? If we aren’t pay a competitive price, we can’t complain at not having a progressive and competitive club

We will have 14000 gates in league two it’s almost unheard of. We have had two bad seasons with affordable football the previous six we had continuous progression and reached the play offs for the championship twice. It’s not price that will help us get where we want it’s good football management

Embracing the likes of Kai Brunker as a cult hero. Placing effort as basically the sole requirement for players to be received as hero’s. Massively under pricing tickets as the focal point for attracting fans. Not retaining quality players when we have them. Training facilities being called out as sub standard. Selling off youth players at the first hint of serious interest. ‘Just get behind the lads FFS’ even in the face of abject failure. ‘Just happy to have a club to support’.

    It’s both.

We enjoyed success under Parkinson because of good management, sure. But without an element of fortune with our cup draws, we’d have floundered. The only reason we were able to compete with the pricing strategy was because of exceptional revenue generated through the cups and a couple of sell on clauses. That’s not a long term, sustainable model.

Cult hero, it was lighted hearted banter and more of a piss take. This just happy to have a club support is starting to grind on my gears, it's rubbish that a small group have decided to repeatedly post that has no substance whatsoever.

The acceptance of mediocrity is starting to grind my gears.

We should be demanding more quality and be ready to pay for it.

We’re a club that’s going absolutely nowhere and I see no plan to alter that.

We wouldn’t have sustained it with higher prices either. Because uptake would have crashed

FB nobodies accepted mediocrity. There's been uproar all season about our shit performances or have you just chosen to ignore that?

I disagree. There’s been uproar from some, from about October. Even after that, some have defended performances, tolerated and defended that abject performances of Chicksen, NKP, O’Connor and others. It was stark from the early home win against Burton that we were bang in trouble, but it’s only in the last few weeks that some supporters have woken up to the inevitability of relegation.

From others, there’s been uproar ever since Rahic tore up the team after the playoff final. But anyone who called out their concern had as much chance of being derided for not backing the team as being listened to.

You’re proving my point. This blind assumption that attendances would fall just because of price increases.

If we’d increased prices by say 25-50 quid after either our L2 promotion, or play off loss to Millwall under Parky, or the same under McCall, you believe gates would have fallen? Not a chance. People would have seen a team progressing, recognised that we needed just a touch more quality and would’ve been happy to pay for it - knowing our prices would still have been among the lowest in the league.

But it's a small minority that you've picked on FB. From a fan base of 16000 you can't make examples of 10 people on a message board and say that the fans are accepting mediocrity. I've said this before but every club has these sort of fans, to say that we are accepting it because of this small minority is crazy.

It took others longer to click on, myself included as I switched on after the Collins appointment. But you and others are over exaggerating the scale of the minority, I don't think anybody was revelling or accepting us being pushed over every week?
