It means more money for the vast majority of the 72 clubs so they were always going to vote for it

    Yes, pure stupid.

Every game should be available on pay-per-view, that's the only way they're going to grow the sport at this stage.

Treading water with minimal broadcast games relying on the same broadcaster year on year, not so much.

You see this is where Ifollow have got it wrong. I may be in a small minority, but generally it's not the money, it's the time I can't afford to go to away matches. So in most cases I would be happy to pay my £10, or maybe even as much as the price of an away ticket, to watch on Ifollow. These would be matches I would NEVER be attending, so someone, be it the clubs or the league, is missing out on my £10-20. There must be thousands like me across the country. The away matches I would go to, I will still go regardless of whether I can watch on ifollow or not

All they’ll do is put up their already extortionate subscription cost and drive even more people to buy a black market firestick. For the price of one month of Sky you are getting 12 months of city - home AND away, and every Champions League game and whatever PL game you want via Bein, on a firestick.

Those at the top are thick if they think continuing the 3 pm Saturday blackout is good for the sport. We live in a digital age, yet neanderthals run the league. Get with the times FFS.

I do agree with you but then football is first and foremost a business and as such needs to maximise its revenue streams in any way they can. It's a fine line between being affordable and pushing the costs to maximise income.

I was reading an article today saying Amazon are changing their fire sticks from Android to Vega OS, now a more techy guy might be able to say what that will mean with regards them dodgy sticks, I believe if that's what Amazon do it might be a matter of buying a Android box.

"Amazon has been working on a new operating system to replace Android on Fire TVs, smart displays and other connected devices, I have learned from talking to multiple sources with knowledge of these plans, as well as job listings and other materials referencing these efforts.

Development of the new operating system, which is internally known as Vega, appears fairly advanced. The system has already been tested on Fire TV streaming adapters, and Amazon has told select partners about its plans to transition to a new application framework in the near future. A source with knowledge of the company’s plans suggested that it could start shipping Vega on select Fire TV devices as early as next year."

I believe they still have to support firestick users for a number of years Dave?

I don't imagine fire sticks need Amazon support or updates for whatever software that is used on them currently for iptv to continue to work. Amazon can't just brick the device when it comes to its end of life.

Agreed. It'll just be the actual Amazon content that stops updating. All the official apps such as bbc iPlayer and itv X etc will likely also still work.

You might want to pass these on to your friends for their own protection ...

    https://www.fact-uk.org.uk/man-jailed-for-selling-illegal-firesticks-showing-premier-league-matches/

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/may/30/streaming-gang-jailed-for-selling-cut-price-premier-league-subscriptions

    https://sporticos.com/en-gb/guides/guide-is-it-illegal-to-stream-live-football-matches-on-the-internet

They illustrate how the criminals who are behind the dodgy Firesticks and dodgy IPTV providers are now being pursued by the police, the PL and FACT. It's a big business now for organised crime gangs and helps them to fund their other criminal activities.

That last link is simply a disguised advert for betting companies, streaming apps and VPN services. No one should take anything on that particular page seriously and certainly not follow the links to help the site make money off the back of it.

I’ll pass it on but I don’t think he’d be bothered, knowing they won’t jail a anyone, costing them £47k a year when they don’t have places for convicted rapists. Another failed to appear in court yesterday for sentencing because they couldn’t remand him in custody for lack of a cell.

    Such is life @Dennis@Dennis .

Of course nobody will be jailed for watching an illegally streamed football game. The criminals who do the streaming are however being jailed, upto 11 years in one case. Interestingly that person and another one in a different case were both separately convicted of watching an illegally streamed footie game. One received a fine of £1,000 and the other one a bit less. These convictions were both regarded as test cases to establish a precedent for the future prosecution of illegal 'watchers' if the current cease and desist approach doesn't work. Such is life!

I’m sure he will shrug his shoulders, spread his palms wide , and carry on watching the days roll by. He won’t tell me where he got his kit from either.
Me I do with Sky for £100 a month or whatever she pays , run by one of the biggest crooks in the world according to my friend.
