And yet i read some on here banging about the situation being fine and lets wait till the summer etc. Thank goodness no more interim rubbish, a settled management team and a squad of young hungry players, most of who are ours. I expect summers targets have already been identified with various options for each position. The ones who were just happy to have a club to support won't what to do with this new positive attitude.

 

Delighted with this news, I like the quote from Ryan Sparks about not accepting mediocrity. That was Geoffrey Richmonds mantra in the 90s when he became chairman.

Thanks for the info I’ve not had time to actually read the article due to work and thought it would just be about them two.

That’s why it was important not to rush into giving them a contract like some wanted, there were other important areas of the business that it also effects and contrary to what some said they were never going elsewhere although the Barrow comments yesterday made me chuckle so fair play for that in these times.

I like the promote from within culture we are creating as long as they have the talent, Brentford do it to great effect. We should be looking at developing talented coaches as well as players.

 

The big difference been we were only run professionally then due to the manager, before Parkinson it felt pretty cello taped together. This time the professionalism stems from above the management level, so we have building blocks in place when a manager leaves for everything not to collapse again.

 

What’s with this ‘again’? - must have been before my 40 years service.

 

An interesting comment from Ryan Sparks at today's press conference:
"We will restructure the football department in the summer to some extent. Not allowing ourselves to drift and leave any stone unturned..."
I wonder if we'll see further recruitment?

 

Cannot reveal source, however, I have heard that City were approached last week by a club looking to talk to Trueman and Sellars, and the club in question wasnt Barrow.

Make of that what you will, but if true, makes sense that the permanent offers were made over the weekend after the club previously indicated there was no rush

 

All irrelevant now anyhow mate, just glad that they are signed on permanently to banish the uncertainty, a thought echoed by Callum Cooke in his post match interview

It’s easy to set boundaries and divide responsibilities if both agree to that I can’t see a problem. I think I read that Trueman was working more on the defensive side of things while Sellars further forward

 

I’m pretty confident the club will do the right thing on this, and none of us know exactly what’s been agreed between the two parties. For all we know T&S might want to be “interim” for the rest of the season. It keeps an escape route open to their day jobs if it all comes on top.

 

I think the club is waiting until the Jan window has closed before looking at handing out new contracts, including to management.

First few games and you're thinking it's maybe a bit of good fortune and that they are just keeping the seat warm but the more you see the more players and fans are buying into it. Can't ever see them going back to youth football now.

 

Agree. They have handled a few moments of adversity very well so far such as the tactical changes they made when Grimsby looked to be edging back into the game, rotating the squad and using subs to win us the game against Tranmere and whatever they said to the players at half time on Tuesday to get a response after quite a poor first half.

Not taking anything away from the excellent job they've done so far, but I think there are a few more hurdles for them to overcome before we commit long term. I don't think they have been behind in a match yet or, as @BL_ says, had to pick the squad up after a loss. These hurdles will come at some point (well hopefully not!) and potentially in the coming weeks as we have a lot of games in a short space of time against teams towards the top. Then there are player management issues such as ill-discipline or contracts etc. As others have said, if everyone is happy with the current situation, lets take each month as it comes and evaluate towards the end of the season.

 

Trueman and Sellars sounds great let’s go for it. They are turning things around with a positive start that is very impressive and a good blend of youth and experience. Give them an incentive until the end of the season then hopefully a full time contract.

 

I don't think the run has been lucky at all. They've put in hours and hours of hardwork, the performances have been cohesive and you could say apart from yesterday, we've been the better side in every match.
As for being tempted away, unless they're offered silly money I can't see them leaving. I believe that once the window is closed and contracts for Wood (and the others who's contracts expire at the end of the season) are concluded, Sparks will sit down with them and thrash out a 2 1/2 year deal.

 

As long as there are no knee jerk reactions to a setback or two which are inevitable

 

What setback ? We are winning the next 22 matches straight and going uo as Champions
