OK. Let's stick to the Trueman and Sellars show without getting side tracked on the last few days of a manager who left VP approaching 5years ago. If you want to continue discussing Parky, by all means use the thread in the Where Are They Now? forum. Thanks

The only draw back of being so good is that the forum is less fun. I miss being able to spew my completely irrational anger via a keyboard.

The foundations for next season are down give the bricklayers a chance to lay the blocks, lets raise the roof.
Fantastic job been done on and off the field.
On leaving Salford City's stadium at the final whistle last season I really had an all time downer on the club and wondered if the feel good factor would ever return, well I needn't of worried the future is starting to look brighter under Trueman and Sellers.
Give em the job Ryan they deserve it.

Think I’d rather be heat than there if I were them, they also already have permanent roles at the club which need replacements. I’m sure discussions are already in the pipeline behind the scenes. All parties are best keeping things private I don’t get the panic on here I really don’t, I’m 100% confident they will be in the dugout at the start of next season unless we already have someone else lined up which is unlikely.

Fine. I doubt T&S or Sparks will lose any sleep over it. I'm sure they all know what's going on and are totally comfortable with the situation.

I'm feeling the love from down under for these two.

Good to see they got the well earned contract now rather than the end of the season.

Let's keep it going and enjoy it while doing so.

First time in years I've decided to order a car sticker in order to show my colours off to these AFL loving Aussies

The expectations are to go up automatically!

    That won't change.

Agree. It was too early to be giving them a permanent contract then but there didn't seem to be any outstanding candidates interested if the rumours were to be believed, so it made sense to give them longer.

We've matched every team we've played under them IMO, even Cambridge (twice) who are top, so they've very much surpassed expectations and shown the early promise wasn't a fluke.

It is a shame we had so many games abandoned this month - we would undoubtedly have more points on the board and might be that further bit clear of the relegation zone. I think that is the only thing stopping the board making them permanent managers. They've given them great backing in January with the signings that have been brought in, which allayed one of the main fears levelled at the interim bosses early on - that players might not want to sign for them.

They've let the results do the talking. Fair play to them and to Sparks for taking a punt.

It can’t be underestimated what these two have achieved, eighteen points from eight games, five of them away from home. When you think of the shambles that took place before with goals conceded for fun it is remarkable with virtually the same players. It’s not fair to say if it isn’t broke don’t change it, they need security of a reasonable length contract now.

What a load of bollocks, just let everyone get on with their job, sit back & enjoy the ride while thinks are going ok, Christ we’d have given anything to be in this position 2 months ago with this feel good factor around again. Sparks happy, trueman & sellers happy. Players happy, supporters, mostly happy

Agree with all of this, except your analysis of the Barrow game.
This is still a virtuous situation. We have two talented, utterly committed young manager/coaches who are bringing in new, different ideas that have totally refreshed the old school thinking of Stuart and Kenny, Bowyer, Hopkin et al before them. Like Sparks, they're Bradford lads totally committed to the club, bringing in new local players - all of which T&S developed - and are starting to bring back a sense of pride and localism to Bradford City. If wheels fall off before the end of the season, T&S have already shown more than enough ability to return to the great work they've done with the Under-18s, reputations intact. But I don't think that's going to happen. The players seem to love them and the ideas they're pushing. I think we have two very talented young men here, and we're bloody lucky they're at our club.

Pretty much where I'm at. We're yet to really take the game to the opposition and I can only recall the Cambridge home game being one where we've created multiple good chances. Its the next step for T&S now to get complete 90 minute performances out of this team, particularly at home and now that we have the quality in attacking areas. Its the one slight concern I have really, because as you said the last two games have not been great and we've been down that road before.

We lost because we did not change FCD at full back who was getting skinned all the game by a winger that was sending in great crosses, Had we changed and took FCD off and stopped the crosses we would have stopped the second goal and penalty and won the game, We lost because we changed to late after the damage was done

I think putting in a sensible system and getting the basics right IS what achieves success at this level though, isn't it? The likes of Cambridge and Carlisle have been up there all season and its hardly like they have blown everyone apart with their superior quality - I think they've just organised well and got the most out of what they have.

I think the club were right to bring in the new recruits to attempt to play more effective attacking football, as you mention, but I think there were just too many enforced changes on Saturday to properly judge what Trueman and Sellars are looking to do in the next few weeks.

Losing Rowe was a massive blow and to not even be able to call on Cook for backup was really frustrating. Personally, I think they would have dropped Clarke, even without a knock, to introduce Vernam or Crankshaw, had they been given a choice, but I don't think introducing both of those flair players straight into the XI would have been the intended plan at Exeter away.

The last two defensive displays have been poor so their task is now to get the side properly balanced again. I can't see tomorrows game being on, so hopefully that at least gives a chance for a few of the knocks to clear up and give us more options.

You are right though, it will be what they can do with the new signings in the months ahead now that determines whether they get the manager gig on a full time basis. We have tackled the window with a plan and paid fees and, presumably, decent wages, to the new lads coming in, with several dropping down from League One, so we're building for next season already and Rupp and Sparks will need to see results with this squad as it is now easier to appoint another manager than rip up the squad again, after a heavy recruitment spell.

I think Trueman and Sellars are up to it and I hope we get the reaction we are all looking for.

Good luck to the lad whatever happens, he owes us nothing. Football can be a short career and if his life is happier elsewhere then a move nearer home can only be viewed as a positive.
