Next season is massive for us, and having secured a contract is also the first real test for Trueman and Sellers. Forget the likes of Robbie Wellans, we've got a management team for next season. Let's see how they go with the expectations us fans have got for next season and the squad they build for that expectation.

The expectations are to go up automatically!

    That won't change.

That's yours and my expectations Fordy and to be honest I think Sparks will have told T&S, albeit privately, that the club expects that as well.

That's been the dream every season we've been in League Two.

The best we've ever done in this current league format is 7th.

That maybe so but we can't think like that and we have to aim for the automatic spots.

That will be be aim for Bradford City management and should be for every City fan.

In truth what we need is Bolton and Tranmere to go up this season.

No, excuses not to go up next season no matter what.

Lets see how they go on, The press say and I possibly agree that teams have found a way to play against us, so lets see if the can get us winning again. I believe the way we have been set up was to get us out of the relegation zone but now we appear safe lets open up a bit.

All the better-resourced teams are thinking like that.

Salford City just sacked the man that won the league last season. They're distinctly midtable.

Bolton are surging, but they're only 5th and I'm not sure if their form will last indefinitely. Ours didn't. (They had 3 shots against Port Vale and won. They needed a penalty and a red card to limp past Walsall. Prior to those, they failed to beat us, although they blitzed Cambridge).

Tranmere might feel they have the players to secure the league, too, but it isn't happening as the table stands.

It very rarely works as you're suggesting. Last year, a loan player from another League Two club won Swindon the league. Crewe and Plymouth were 2nd and 3rd. No disrespect to any of those clubs, but none of them are top half in League One this season because they simply don't have the resources to compete.

The biggest, best resourced, most ambitious sides don't win the league in League Two. Portsmouth may be the only club to fit that bill in the last two decades (or more).

It's not about 'having to finish in the autos', it's about getting promoted by hook or by crook and doing everything we can do to negate the fact (and it is a fact) that every team sees teams like us and Bolton as big sides. Have you been listening to the away commentary? It's mentioned overtly by the commentators every single game, and you can bet it's used by the opposition players and managers just as often.

Some very good points today Jon.
Salford sack Manager and appoint Gary Bowyer but only 'on loan' until the end of the season then back to Derby. Rooney doing Neville a favour?, whilst they line someone up for next season all suggests they have given up.
Tranmere lacking Vaughan until September - not the best solution for promotion.
Bolton, I think, may make the auto spots.
The rest is open. In our case we had more points going into the Carlisle game than in 2013 and the equivalent game after was a 4-1 loss at Exeter, then it all happened.
    Watch this space?....possibly.

Tranmere have David Nugent and currently in joint 3rd with 2 games in hand over 2nd.

Salford have given up if appointing Bowyer that's for sure! Bradford City gave up appointing him. Shocking appointment by us! Awful!

As for us. Hope you are right!

Can't see Rooney's managerial career being a long one, he'll probably give up when Derby see him off..

I think we've only been promoted as champions 3 times in our history, pretty dire that.

    It certainly is -

When smaller Lancashire and Yorkshire towns clubs are winning FA cups and old division one titles, our club was for years in the old divisions 3 and 4 just surviving with no ambition.

Nothings changed much, lets hope Sparks see’s things differently.

Maybe that's the thought behind the Bowyer move, Rooney leaves Derby at the end of the season and steps into the Salford job with his buddies.
