Where are you getting your figures from, RB?

He’s played 81 times in the last two seasons, scoring 12 goals from midfield.

Agreed. We genuinely don't need better than Cullen and Inman.

We need to make sure the players work well together, that's more important than individual players.

Gary Jones was one of our best players in League Two. On paper, he was the worst signing in our history.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with your post as such, but people are getting a little obsessive about names or players who have played 40+ games a season every season.

If they had played that number of games, chances are they weren't getting released on a free, and/or were one of that sides best players. Obviously there will be exceptions, but do we actually know Inman's injury history? Is it repetitive injuries? Is there an ongoing problem? Or are we taking stats at face value?

There are many reasons players might not play, managerial preferences being just one - and those things are very fallible!

You could argue neither Payne or Butterfield were good enough for our first team based on the last ten games - but that's ludicrous. The reason they weren't selected had nothing to do with their ability.

    Give over, lad.

Excuse me ? (shock !!) Who's the 'WUM', here ?
An average player (at best) who has ONLY scored eight league goals over two seasons is hardly prolific.

In competition - I offer Jack Payne .......
Whilst outstanding with City in 2018, he severely dropped off in 2019.
Be that because neither Hopkin or Bowyer (when actually selecting him) deployed him incorrectly, or just because the lad is a one trick pony, who was sussed out by the opposition ?
    But here we go .............

Payne .......In one season, 39 appearances, delivering 9 goals.
The goals to games may be similar, but Payne achieved his in one season, not over two. Penny dropping yet ???

I'm not going to severely berate the boy, Inman - But nor will I accept HE is what City need, OK ?

    'Transfer Market', BE
I was quoting only league appearances and goals, are your figures 'all competitions' ?

Edit ........ Which ever way it is - Surely City should have higher sights than a player who has been released from a team that struggled for the best part of a season ?

I’m all for having reasonable debates, but your fishing game is hella poor, girlfriend.

If we sign Inman, we’ll struggle to do better business this season - Fact!

I, and others are not looking for 'Big name players', though. We want honest, hard working players with a track record to say they are fit and able ..... Technical ability is a welcome bonus. ;)

Before we end this pointless debate ..... Let's part on good terms, and you to explain to me why your statement is 'fact'.
I have nothing against Inman, as a player - But I do feel we can get better, IF we actually want to escape league 2. :)

With some of our fans being that desperate to get new owners, I’m sure the rumours will continue for a while yet.

Neither, I'm a coffee bloke ....... I like it strong, little milk and little sugar. (I put the milk in first, to stop the boiling water spoiling / burning the taste.) :)

Whilst I agree that 41 appearances in 2seasons is not what we need, a central midfielder scoring 1 in 5 is a good return. Wish we’d had a goal scoring midfielder.

Hell, I’d be happy to get a goal scoring striker
    :p

Because signing average L2 players won’t get us into the top7. Ronnie never suggested an “out of this world player”, but we do need players that are good enough to start games

i think thats the wrong attitude, whilst its L2 Bowyer doesnt play hoofball and will be looking to build a team of big lads who can play a bit. going for hard working cloggers will keep us safe but wont help us push on imo

Hang on. You’re being as standoff-ish as Ronnie. You both make some good points but spoil it with your own personal view rather than what you’re arguing against.

Example. @RonnieBrown@RonnieBrown you have compared him with an attacking midfielder who played as a second striker or as part of a 3 for most of the season. Inman is a central midfielder so really you should be comparing him to the likes of Wright, Akpan and Anderson. And on that basis his goal scoring isn’t bad.

But @Bradford End@Bradford End claiming it’s a fact we wouldn’t sign better is also a misnomer. He’s decent. He has scored goals, but what’s the rest of his game like? He did well a few years back at Crewe but appears to have fallen away a little since. It’s not a fact that we won’t get better. What evidence of his all-round game can you share to back up that claim?

How is he an average league two player? Which league two side is he struggling to get into?
