Totally correct. The Swedish lad, the two keepers, Brunker, the other German striker, the Aussie guy. Probably more. Kind of sums up their quality that I can't even remember half of their names, and not one of them are still at the club.

 

Who was the other German striker?

Big hopes for him. Had some sort of weird injury.

Went to a 5th division German club after we let him go, and scored 14 goals in 28 appearances. Now plays in the 3rd division. Obviously knows where the goal is, and I thought he had something about him when he came on for that Donny game.

He'd scored 98 goals in 2 seasons in the 8th German division before he came to us - which obviously means nothing, but highlights that lower league football is worlds apart from professional football.

I guess it's hard for lower league or non league strikers in England to find the right club, let alone a continental forward to find the right platform to showcase their skills here in the EFL.

I'll be interested to hear how the lad does.

You seem a bit behind on the conversation.I wasnt suggesting he comes back, I was suggesting he was plucked from non league and did ok....

 

Fair comment, SP. The most disheartening for me (and others, I suspect) last season was the apparent lack of any desire, apart from the FT whistle. Putting on the kit before KO seemed to drain anyone of the will to live. Sadly, the only ones who 'shone' were loanees.
Some are suggesting we try to get Cooke in permanently .......... I'd like to add Connolly to that 'list', both are loanees, and both have made an impact at VP. IF City can ship out Doyle, then perhaps it would facilitate this?

 

I would love to see us sign Cooke and Connolly permanently. Whether that is possiblke in January or not, remains to be seen. I suspect that other clubs may well be keeping tabs on them too. Maybe Wimbledon will recall Connolly, now that Wally Downes is no longer manager?

 

I follow both on Instagram, so am reasonably up to date with how they are doing (and what they eat for breakfast).

Brunker is now playing in the third division, so the same level as Grodowski. He's scored 3 in 23 appearances this season. Grodowski has scored 1 in 5 appearances.

They played against each other on the 19th of October (Grodowski for Munster and Brunker for SG Sonnenhof). The result was 1-1. Brunker played the whole game (as a lone striker) and Grodowski came on as a second half sub. Neither scored. Due to meet up again for the return fixture in March.

 

I'm not sure why that analyses can't be used, I'm sure a team that is performing well week in week out will give their striker more chances than a team that is struggling as we were last season.

I'd already mentioned Jamie Vardy though so I agree it can happen but not usually so late in a player's career.

Excellent goals, all 3. That first one is as good as any goal the first team has scored in a long, long time.

 

Enjoyed that. Rochdale academy has had much more success than ours over the years tho I suspect our current crop of youngsters will simply follow their forebears.
